just out of curiosity (not complaining)

why does the opera website automatically give me the 32 bit version of opera when i have 64 bit processor running a 64 bit operating system ?

like i said : just wondering.

well i downloaded the 64 bit version installed and then updated it to version 27. seemingly it is still a 32 bit browser. apparently the 64 bit version of opera 12.14 still updates to a 32 bit version of 27.

Development of 64 bit Opera is seriously lagging behind that of the 32 bit version which Opera believes will be the better option for most users. The 64 bit version offers few benefits and is not compatible with the majority of the Opera add-ons, most of which are 32 bit only.

64 bit Opera is indeed a 64 bit application (I have used it) but it exists only in the 12.xx version. When you upgraded to version 27 you replaced it with the 32 bit version because none other exists.
