Metro IE10 keeps quitting whenever I enter a URL in the address bar

I'd be willing to bet this is a bug and it will be fixed in the next build. And I'm also unwilling to accept that it's a "User created" problem. I mean surely we should be allowed to adjust the security settings without ruining the functionality of most the Apps in the process.

There is no way on earth this problem is by design. I could still open solitaire also but the weather App and a bunch of other ones refused to open.

Just because it doesn't happen to every system doesn't mean it's not a bug. There are similar complaints all over the place, including this and many other threads.

At any rate it's all working now but messing with security settings or UAC still seems to be the trigger.

As soon as I install the new build next month I will be testing to see if the problem is persisting or not.

There is no problem and there is no bug. If even one system (mine) works well and as expected, that means the source (Windows) is well.

I've easily shown and proven that I can control the behavior at my discretion in 100% of attempts. All Metro apps load here well on first try.

Same as there are similar complaints such as "why can't I share from my pc to my other pc?" or any other user error problem.

As previously recommended, uninstall Avast! in safe mode with the special tool to do so.

Reboot and set Windows Firewall and Windows Defender services to Auto and start them too.

Cool, there are at least 3 other issues on the machine I see that could use addressing. Maybe more.

Let me know how it goes.

Nope, the problem still remains. What were these other "issues" you were talking about, GMan?

    These need drivers installed:

    Code:
Not Available USB\VID_138A&PID_0005\221015C52200 The drivers for this device are not installed.
Not Available ACPI\ENE0100\4&2F39AA8C&0 The drivers for this device are not installed.
And you need to install proprietary storage driver from the manufacturer for your chipset (AMD):

    Code:
    Name Standard SATA AHCI Controller
    Manufacturer Standard SATA AHCI Controller
    Status OK
    PNP Device ID PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4391&SUBSYS_3637103C&REV_00\3&2411E6FE&0&88
    I/O Port 0x00008038-0x0000803F
    I/O Port 0x0000804C-0x0000804F
    I/O Port 0x00008030-0x00008037
    I/O Port 0x00008048-0x0000804B
    I/O Port 0x00008010-0x0000801F
    Memory Address 0xF2408000-0xF24083FF
    IRQ Channel IRQ 22
    Driver c:\windows\system32\drivers\storahci.sys (6.2.8250.0, 70,30 KB (71 992 bytes), 2012-02-18 05:37)
And then with the all apps everywhere closed, run only CCleaner to clean the junk files.

I just watched your video again for the heck of it. I would remove all the bookmarks if needed to, to troubleshoot.

Try clicking the arrow to go to the the typed url instead of whatever it is you're doing.

    USB\VID_138A&PID_0005\221015C52200 is my fingerprint reader.
ACPI\ENE0100\4&2F39AA8C&0 seems to be some sort of IR receiver that I didn't even know I had.

I'm gonna have a look at HP's website for these drivers, but I'm pretty sure they don't have anything to do with all this since it all worked fine without them a week ago.

    Same thing with this.

    Sure. That seems legit.

I'm using the return key. But no, I cannot click the arrow button since the program exists after two or three key strokes.

If I had a dollar for every time someone made a statement like that...

I also would try another keyboard, or external keyboard if this is a laptop or similar.

Hi, As I'm used to having the address bar @ the top of the page, (like it is in the desktop version)..it looks like MS would have offered an option to do so in the 'metro' version. I hope that some user can come up with a 'hack' to get that done. David
IE Metro tile is missing from my metro start screen. It's not in the 'all apps' list either. when I go to program default, it is set as the default browser. I went through all the checks in the tutorial on here, but at best, I can only get the desktop IE tile to pin to start. I would rather have...
