IE 10 does not open to the web

IE 10 does not open to the web after several window's updates have been installed on win 8 cp on my desktop and my laptop. IE 10 worked ok before updates. So I removed the updates (about 10 in the beginning) but that did not change IE 10. It still would not bring up the web. There was no error message. The web page was "in motion and looking like it was trying to open" but would not open.(best I can explain it). Now firefox 11 works and works perfectly but I can't use my favorites with firefox and I cannot make firefox my true default browser. So how do I solve this problem?
I even used fix it on this with no solution.

Call me kooky for the moment here, but my humble vote is that uninstalling I.E. is no solution to any problems.

IE10 can not be uninstalled, it's part of the OS.

You sure don't know much about Windows for a senior member.
How do I remove Internet Explorer 8 from Windows as a troubleshooting step?

I uninstalled AVG and that solved the problem for now. Also the updates were uninstalled earlier as others reported that they have been the problem too. Not sure. Now using Microsoft antivirus.

Yeah he does. He knows one better than you for saying it as he has. That link doesn't mean anything - it's just a path to darkness and there to satisfy their legal obligations.

I.E. is tied into the operating system heavily and there would be issues caused one way or another immediately or in the future, from its removal.
