    Need A New Email

For years I have been with gmail and liked it. But today, whilst attempting to join a forum for ftp; I got the following message during registration:

Google Mail is the world's #1 forum spam enabler. Google DOES NOT assure the authenticity of its users! Please use a different mail provider.

    So, my question:

Which do you consider the best, easiest to use, and store emails in, and safest? I should maybe be thinking about changing and need advice.

That's a seriously scary claim (and potentially libelous?) for a forum to make.

I have used Gmail as my only mail service provider for many years now, I have several gmail addresses. I have used them to join many forums, and have never seen a message such as you quoted in your above post

Sorry I deleted my original post as I have decided to go with hotmail after checking it out. I have seen such a message before, but a while past. As it might be on interest for discussion, I will put it back.

Apart from individually forwarding, how can I move my stored emails in gmail, to hotmail - suggestions on a $1000 bill

I use outlook (formally hotmail). I like it because it looks nice and does more than gmail did for me. It also hooks up to Skype, Yahoo! & Facebook

Outlook is fine until you run into problems with their security settings, then it turns into a nightmare.

Those nightmares are always without an exception user's own fault. Users with a smartphone have absolutely no "nightmares" using an authenticator app:

Users without a smartphone can set up a secondary security email and phone number. Keeping these two up to date there will never be any security nightmares (access issues) even when two step verification is enabled. Of course it is up to user to keep the security information up to date.

If you lose your password and can't get in and the email and phone number you have given as security email and number no longer exist, and if you have selected not to use an authenticator app, it's hardly a fault in Outlook to lock you out for 30 days before the security information can be reseted. It's an extremely important security measure, without it anyone could access your email. It's the user's own fault, caused by not caring enough to keep the security information up to date.

Well you trust them if you want, I do not trust company, that does not even let me change a password and recently on this forum mentioned a case, where a user could not access his account for a month, not his fault.

Posts like this make me really angry. The stupidity of some computer users when it comes to security never stops amazing me.

Only reason why Microsoft would not let you to change the password is that your security information is invalid or non-existent. In that case you have to wait 30 days to be able tor reset the password. As I mentioned in my previous post it is your own fault, you have only your laziness to blame (it is laziness and nothing else if you don't care keeping your security information up to date).

It is astonishing stupid to complain about the 30 day waiting period if you have lost your password and your security information is invalid. Think yourself, let's think that you had an MS Account and you can't access it because you cannot remember your password and your security information is not up to date. Would you really like it work so that you only needed to click "Can't remember my password" and then you could simply give a new password and log in? Or if someone accidentally found out your passowrd you would be OK if they changed the password without none whatsoever security checks that it really is you, locking you out from and blocking your access to your email. If it was that easy, anyone who knew your email but not your password could log in any time, click the "Can't remember my password" and access your email. That's about the stupidest I have ever heard.

The 30 day waiting period is needed in these cases. Even that is not a foolproof method but at least that's there only to protect you; Microsoft monitors the account for these 30 days, checking that no one is logging in and changing the password and / or security information, and after a 30 day period when nothing has happened let's you to reset the password.

Only way to not have these security measures would really be to let anyone who knows your email address to change the password and access your email. I repeat: is that really what you want to?

    To summarize:
I do not trust company, that does not even let me change a password
User's fault, invalid or non-existing security information. This could never happen if the security information was up to date or the user had selected to use an authenticator app.

a user could not access his account for a month, not his fault
Yes it is, it is the user's own fault due invalid or non-existing security information. This could never happen if the security information was up to date or the user had selected to use an authenticator app.
