Hello,

Am I the only one suffering from a very laggy Google Chrome?

I have a new Windows 8.1 laptop and Chrome is very laggy, every time I type a sentence to search at the search bar, it shows the first 1-2 letters of the sentence, and then the whole PC gets stuck for a few seconds before the sentence appears.

I tried to do that with Internet Explorer but it doesn't seem to have this problem.
Is it a problem with my machine only? Or more of you have encountered such thing?

*Update : From some reason it has stopped for now. Maybe it was because I removed a pre-built program that came with my PC and was using alot of CPU?

Yea mate, that can have an effect. I would make sure any extension for chrome you aren't using is removed, and any program you don't want uninstalled. You can also change startup behavior of programs, etc with this tutorial (and much more): http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/37511-optimize-performance-windows-8-a.html - This will have a huge impact on the speed of your system.

Hope this helps

In the above referenced link it mentions it may be better to disable the 'Hibernate' option ... i.e. as below

11. Disable Hibernate if Not Used
If you do not use hibernate or Fast Startup, then disabling hibernate will save you a GB+ size file from being saved on your hard drive when you hibernate the PC. When hibernate is disabled, the shut down time will also be shorter by not having to wait on memory being saved to the hiberfil.sys file.

Question:
Is the created GB+ file that is created on executing the "hibernate" mode mentioned above cumulative, or is there only one such file created, and subsequent 'hibernations' just overwrite that one file?

Hibernate saves your current session to disk, so it will overwrite any previous session. The size will remain roughly the same. When hibernate is in use [enabled], it takes up that much space even if you don't use it.
