    IE 11 Problem (Shockwave Flash)

IE11 crashes each time I visit a news site that has the video stories that automatically run after the page loads.
In other words, those small news vids that run automatically on the side of the page as you are reading the main article. Newspaper sites are the main culprit.

When I disable the Shockwave Flash, there is no problem. Any solution is appreciated.

Have you tried another version of Flash? Try Disabling Enhanced Protection Mode in IE Settings.

    Thanks for the reply.

Not aware that another version of Flash is available in 8.1 or you can change versions ? I do have the latest update.

Enhanced Protection Mode is disabled by default (not using the Metro version of IE). I may try enabling just to test.

There are several versions available. : Flash Player 15.0.0.167 (IE) Download for Windows / Old Versions / FileHorse.com Althoght the latest one is recommended, but if it causes problems, try with another one.

Thanks again ! This also has been a continuing problem thru the past versions of Flash, but I may try an older one.

I did enable Enhanced Protection Mode but same issue. Actually, the problem only occurs on two sites, both newspaper sites (statesman.com, mysa.com). It may be an incompatibility problem with the site itself for Win8 ? I suppose I can just continue to disable Flash for those sites.

No, it is not a problem wit W8. I just tested IE11 (both sites) on my system and no crashes.

If you did not before and have time, please stay on the site (mysa.com) for 5+ minutes. Mine does not crash right away, normally about 5+ minutes and going from section to section.

Mine does not crash, but the videos are slow and freezing while playing. I'd say it's the sites.

    1. In IE11 go to Tools > Delete Browsing History. Tick the first 4 boxes > Delete.

    2. Then Control Panel > Flash Player > Storage Tab > Delete All.... > Tick the first box > Delete Data.

    3. On one of the offending videos, or any Web page Flash video Right click > Select "Global Settings..."
On the Settings Manager section > Peer-assisted Networking panel > Tick the box for "Disable P2P uplink for all". On Website Storage Settings Panel > Delete all sites. You may need to look at the other Tabs and do stuff there.

This has applied to all previous versions of Flash, they only changed the dialogue boxes/tabs over the years.
The idea of these three things is to rid yourself of old stored Flash components/temp stuff that maybe hanging around.

It may not be the solution, but hey ho, at least an attempt has been made....
