    Firefox Browser

Tho I've left Firefox for either IE or Chrome several times, I keep coming back to try it once again. I just installed Version 32 and find it noticeably faster than IE or Chrome when surfing the Internet. It seems to open faster on my pc, and although I gripe about the add-on's , I find myself using several of them and liking it. Guess things change from time to time, including my preferences. Great to have a choice.

While I like several things about Chrome, the fact that it's so heavily tied into Google's services annoys me a little. However, not nearly as much as the cesspool that is their extension "store" or whatever you want to call it. With Mozilla, you've got a group of enthusiasts building a browser for fellow enthusiasts and it shows in how the majority of extensions are written by individuals looking to improve the experience somehow, or solve a particular problem. Chrome has a bunch of commercial entities offering up things and as the saying goes, if something is free, it means you're the product. I seriously question just how much info about your browsing habits gets hoovered up by Chrome extensions and sent to who knows where. And while Google has clamped down on this a bit, there's the problem of companies buying up popular extensions just to dump in a ton of advertising garbage and then push a silent update on users. Even if Google ultimately pulls the extension, the company might spend $1000 on the extension, say another $500 with the additional development and likely rake in several times that much by shuffling people off to specific search sites or some such before Google gets around to doing anything about it. While that has happened with Firefox as well, it is far more rare.

Firefox has always been my No. 1 browser. Comparing between IE, Chrome and FF, they are all run equally fast in my PC. However, the amount of add-ons with FF are so useful and with recent version, they also have the Sync setup so you don't lose your bookmarks in case you have a need to re-install it from fresh or sync from another PC.

The add-ons I use are: Adblock Plus, Addblock plus Pop-up Addon (Keep out the popup and Ads video), All in one side bar and NoSquint (Keep the text size consistant on every web page).

However, I do have Chrome installed so I can cast the video from my PC to the big screen TV wirelessly using Chromecast. Too bad that FF does not have the Chromecast Add-ons since it's Gooogle proprietary stuff.

You may want to consider adding NoScript Beef TACO and the AdBlock Plus Element Hiding Helper. And I believe Mozilla is preparing to release their own version of the Chromecast or maybe they already have, I forget.

I've never understood why so many people like Chrome. I have been using FireFox since long before Chrome was developed and see no reason to switch as it does everything I expect from a browser.

Thanks for listing your add-ons. I find NoSquint very helpful. Thanks.

Yes, I also have noScript but disable most of the times because on certain website, I have problems with download windows pop up.
If FF releases Chromecast Add-ons then I will uninstall Chrome. Another thing I hate is Chrome silently updates their version via Google Updater and move the old version to another folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application), I have to manually remove the old version that would free up about 300MB each.

Maybe I wasn't quite clear. Mozilla is planning to release, or maybe already has released, what is effectively a competitor to the Chromecast. A dedicated bit of hardware, just like the Chromecast. AFAIK, there's no plans to get the Chromecast working with Firefox, though check the list of add-ons and someone may have already done it.

I like the part about how each tab is a separate process, so one errant page won't bring down all the rest. However this also adds a lot of unnecessary overhead, so in exchange for a little inefficiency and a lot of additional code complexity, you gain a much more stable program. I also liked Chrome's minimalism in the early stages, but it's now it's like an anorexic who weighs 85lbs, but looks in the mirror and sees some 350lbs body. It's like a disease at this point. Shrinking the control buttons down and whatnot was a good thing. Getting rid of the useful status bar... That's the point where they lost control of their addiction.

It started a while back, but now it's getting annoying. Anybody else find this frustrating? I like Metro IE for quick browsing. Ideally, I'd like to be able to use Metro IE for quick browsing off the Start screen, then click the "View on desktop" button and have it open in Firefox. That seems unlikely though.
