    pictures not displaying in email messages


    When I started using Windows Live Mail pictures would display when I received any emails - now all I get is a X where the picture(s) should be - can someone help me please. Thanks so much

    Were these emails forwarded to you? Or are they the ones that you could see the images originally?

    Hi PCGeek - These are emails that I am receiving. The pictures used to open automatically but like I say now I just get an X instead of a picture - even when I open the mail. - grrrr

    Is this from just one person or from anybody that sends you email with pictures. In the cases wgere I have seen this it is usually the senders issue more than the receivers...

    Actually, not showing images is the preferred setting. Sometimes spam emails contain a 1x1 pixel image that is a link back to their system. If you allow it to be viewed, they know your email account is valid. So MS and most other email providers prevent images by default.

    But if you want to change it, just go to your Live Mail account options and change the default setting. If you don't want to change it for everyone, just click on the yellow bar above your message to add that person to your safe senders list.
