Finding a WLM Storage Folder (Must I scroll each time?)

I recently switched from OE to WLM because I purchased a new laptop (Win 8.1). I incorrectly assumed, since OE is about 8 years old, WLM would be far more advanced in every aspect.

A huge annoyance is: whenever I need to find a folder in Storage Folders, instead of keying the first letter of the folder I seek, as with OE, I must scroll down to find it. To make matters worse; all of the Storage Folders are expanded to reveal the sub folders by default. So, as I scroll down, each time, I must manually collapse each expanded folder.

I would very much appreciate a way to cause WLM Storage Folders to behave like OE.

Have you tried Thunderbird? It's a lot like OE and has AddOns for customized Buttons, behavior etc..

What I like about it is it works the same way from XP onwards. Also you can access many web accounts using pop3 protocols.

It's very stable and predictable(and free.)

Thanks for your recommendation. Before I risk jumping out or the frying pan, into the fire*, I prefer to wait for a kind member of this forum to offer a solution. I found the following comment:

*Under Win 8.1 64-bit, current Thunderbird version is PAINFULLY slow. Marking Spam messages as Not Spam does not automatically move them back to the Inbox. Filtered sort results are not displayed in a convenient format. Attempting to bulk Move large numbers of messages causes the program to crash. I get frequent error messages that autoupdate could not be performed.

There's no reason to use the current Thunderbird version unless you absolutely must have multiple tabs. I never felt the need for them. Thunderbird 2.x last update is essentially the same. Since I have no ISP at present and simply use Hotmail, i have no reason to set it up. But Thunderbird 2.x worked fine for me in XP through W7. As far as solutions go I think you have the site confused with a paid support company. The suggestions are from posters who volunteer trying to help out. Mainly because they enjoy getting things to work. But that's all they are. Suggestions.

I hope it works for you. :)
