Solved Setting IE home page but losing settings every time

I am using IE 11 desktop.

In Settings/Internet Options/General I entered an address to be used as my home page by clicking 'Use Current'.

I also selected 'Start with Home Page', applied the settings and Ok'ed.

On the Home Page icon on the toolbar I elected to 'Use this page as your only home page'.

Just to avoid the obvious question: Yes, I WAS on the page I wanted to use as my home page when I took these actions.

Good to go, I thought.

But every time I open IE I get a blank tab and these settings have disappeared and have to be added again...and again...every day.

I have no idea what I am doing wrong and would appreciate some guidance before I head back to FF.

Thank you

Reset IE11 in the Advanced tab of Internet Options and then try.

Thank you for both comments.

I know I could pin the website, or have it on my favourites bar, and either of these is easy to do, but I just wanted to know why the settings are getting lost each time. I do use CCleaner regularly but surely this shouldn't affect it - it never affected my home page on FF.

And I don't really want to reset IE unless I have to as I would have to restore all my favourites etc (I guess?).

So still looking for other ideas...

When you reset IE11, it does not remove your Favorites.

I tried the tab setting suggested above - no effect.

I reset IE - no effect.

IE is still losing my home page choices each time I exit.

Looks like I need to add my preferred site to my favourites toolbar and just remember to check it,

at least until I have some more suggestions to try...:(

Either restore IE defaults or 'head back to FF'! ;)

Had a look at Opera but unfortunately it doesn't currently work with Trusteer Rapport, which I use in relation to online banking and don't want to lose, so that's a 'No' for now.

Curiously my partner, whose laptop is exactly the same as mine, does not get this issue with IE. His home page loads perfectly. Will have to see if we have any different settings.

Thank you for all the suggestions, but on reflection I think I'll live with what I've got for now.

You might want to try:
  1. Double check your Emisoft Anti Virus software Settings if there is an entry to prevent you to change your Home Page. If not, go to step 2
Can't see anything in Emsisoft that could be stopping this, and have been using Emsisoft for years with no previous issues like this.

Win+R->gpedit.msc
User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer

Tried to run gpedit.msc but got a message saying it wasn't a valid command.
