A website wants to open web content on my pc, etc..

When opening any browser on my pc, I get a band of white across the page with the following message:
"A website wants to open web content using this program on your computer. This program does not have a valid digital signature that verifies the publisher.
Name: C:\Windows\System32\\Macromed\Flash\FlashUtil_ActiveX.exe. Then there is a choice of 'Yes' in grey, or 'No' in blue. If I click on the 'No' box 3 times the band disappears. The string leads to an 'Adobe Flash Player Utility'. If I open the box it gives me an alternative to 'Quit' or 'Uninstall'. When I 'Uninstall', it states that the program has been successfully uninstalled. However, the string is still there and the same problem exists when opening a browser. When I right click on the last part of the string & select 'Delete', a box titled 'File Access Denied'. 'You require permission from TrustedInstaller to make changes to this file. Any suggestions as to how to solve this problem please.

ActiveX was an Ms system that allowed dynamic execution from things like web browsers --remember the IE version of RDP (Remote Desktop). It's a security hole about the size of the Atlantic ocean so new apps don't use it.

It looks though you are using adobe flash -- but flash is now included in IE (or the alternative is) so up to you whether you want to run that app --it's probably OK but I'd look for a future alternative.

Thanks for that jimbo. However, I tried 'googling', & followed the tip below on my IE on the Desktop. So far it seems to have solved the problem. We'll see!

You can also try the following method and check if it solves the issue:
a) Open Internet Explorer
b) Select theTools option and click on Internet Options.
c) In the Security Tab select the Trusted sites Zone and click on Custom level
d) Scroll down and enable the option Display mixed contents
e) Also enable the option: don’t prompt for client certificate selection when no certificates.
f) Click on Ok and restart the Internet Explorer.

If the copy of Flash on your computer does not have a valid signature then it may be a malicious program posing as Adobe Flash. The changes you made in your follow up seems to just turn off the message that is trying to warn you of this problem. I would suggest running a malware scanner such as malwarebytes as well as a manual scan by your antivirus program to make sure you are not infected.

Thanks for that suggestion and advice Mikeytg. You may very well be might. The string is still there in File Explorer.
I did a quick virus scan, followed up by a full scan. They revealed nothing. I'll download 'Malwarebytes' and do a scan with that. I'll keep you advised.
