Cannot save jpg photos attached to an email

I am new to Windows 8. I emailed myself a .jpg photo as an email attachment (in yahoo email), from a different computer. When I try to save the attached photo to my own computer, the options are to save as "webpage complete" or as "HTML." I don't want to do either of those. I want to save it as a .jpg-format image in a folder of my choice on my computer.

Also, when I click on the attached photo, it opens in some unnamed Windows 8 imaging app that takes up the whole screen. I don't know what I am supposed to do with it (there are no explanations or options, or even any text that tells what the app is called or what it is supposed to be doing), and I can't get rid of it unless I press the keyboard key with the picture of a window on it, and then get back into my browser (Chrome). If I knew the name of this intrusive imaging app, maybe I could uninstall it, or at least reconfigure Windows 8 to make it save images in the format I want them in and in the folder where I want it to save them, so I can manipulate them the way I want to (in my case, with Paint Shop Pro)

Any advice?

It's "Pictures" App that it defaults to. You can find any .jpg file on the computer and change default program to open it, to anything you want to open it with. You may need to reboot but after all .JPG files will open with that program when you open it or double click on it.

I don't understand the page at all. It says "Use these apps to search," but I don't want to search -- I want to change a default program.

I was told that the imaging app that comes up automatically is "Pictures," but that is not on the list. There is one called "Photos", which is probably it. But I see no way to change the default from "Photos" to "Paint Shop Pro 6," which is my preferred imaging program.

That's for modern Apps. For desktop programs: Find a .JPG format picture, right click on it and choose open with (it may be under x64), than if there's no Paint Shop Pro listed there, click on "Choose Default Program" find PSP choose it and make sure "Use this app to open all .jpg files" box is marked.

When I right-click on a jpg image, there is no "open with" option in the list, so that doesn't work. And I don't know what "x64" means. Any other ideas?

x64 should be one of lines in right click menu. When you high lite it, on it's right side is a triangle that shows there is i a sub-menu which opens with list of programs available to open.jpg files with. If there's no x64 than there should be just "Open with "

x64 is not in the right-click menu. The right-click menu options are
Open link in new tab
Open link in new window
Save link as...
Copy image URL
Copy image
Open image in new tab
Search Google for this image
Print...
Inspect element

And that's all. Any other ideas?

When I click to open a jpg image file in my computer, it automatically opens in the default full-screen "app" ("Photos" or "Pictures" or whatever it's called). When I right click on it, the only menu that appears is a bar across the bottom with the options:

"Set as" "Delete" "Rotate" and "Crop."

When I right-click on a thumbnail of an image in PSP, the options are:
Copy to..
Delete
Move to...
Rename
Send to StudioAvenue.com
Information...
Open
Print multiple images
Preferences...

The "Open" option just opens the image, and right-clicking on it does nothing.

Any other ideas?

I don't know what kind of windows is that, ever since XP and maybe before including W8.1 it works like that. Here's another way, a bit more complicated.
Control Panel > Default Programs > Associate a file type or protocol with a program > here you can scroll down till you find .JPG extension. If you click on it you can go to "Change program" button where you can choose which program to open that type of file with.

Thanks, that worked to a point. When I get to "Associate a file type or protocol with a specific program", I find "jpeg" associated with "Photos". When I highlight that and click on "Change program" it shows a list of Microsoft products, and at the bottom is the option "Look for another app on this PC". When I click on that it brings up the file manager and I can locate the PSP program, but when I select it I am merely shown a list of folders and files within PSP. I don't see any way of selecting PSP itself.

I appreciate your help very much.
