Solved firefox crashes on windows 8.1 leaving pc lock up.........

as u can see im on ff for about 20 to 30 min then boom pc just freezes and locks up only way of fixing is rebooting all my drivers are updated my gpu card is 9800gtx ------[VIDEO[video]http://tinypic.com/r/i69v9x/8[/video]

What about any add-ons ? did you try turning them off? Specially Adobe Flash.

yea everything is off.... my gpu card is 9800gtx card could only be on chrome for about 20 min then it just locks up only way of fixing is powering down pc

Unfortunately, its the card. It's an older legacy card and is not really supported for win 8.1. I have (well had) the very same card and it was a nightmare when it came to installing win 8 and the subsequent 8.1 updates. It works better with older drivers - I think it was around the 293.xx range of drivers. I decided to update my old legacy bios which killed my 9800gtx card - xp froze all the time and win 8 wouldn't reinstall.

Try downgrading the driver - use drivesweeper to uninstall everything before installing the new driver but, I think its time to invest in a new graphics card. I updated to the MSI GTX760 and even with an outdated motherboard (N7AD SLI) 8.1 runs perfectly.

i fix it i got a new card --------->gtx 750 ti superclocked 2gb

update i got a new card im on firefox and i was playing a youtube video and after 5 min it froze again the whole pc ........its a new card ????

i cant be the only one with this problem i just installed a new card ????
