    Win 8.1 Mail app problem

The Win 8.1 Mail app is showing two 'Junk' folders for my 'live.com' email accounts. One contains my junk mail, but clicking the extra folder just displays the 'busy' spinning icon and never opens the folder. How can I delete the extra folder? Opening my accounts with Outlook.com only has one junk folder. This problem showed up with the latest Windows 8.1 Update.
Thank you for your time and assistance.

Welcome to Windows Eight Forums, Grw.

How many accounts do you have configured in the app?

There are 2 'live.com' accounts and 1 gmail.

I have had the same issue a week or so now, on all my Windows 8.1 Update 1 rigs. Suddenly, all Mail App accounts got the second Junk folder:

When the upper Junk folder is opened, it just spins as if refreshing but nothing happens. The lower Junk folder works normally:

This has nothing to do with how many email accounts are set up, if the PC has only email account set up it occurs on that account as well as in all 12 accounts set up on another PC of mine.

Well, then I guess there's a bug that MS needs to fix then. Is there a slim chance these will help?

I played a bit with this, testing various scenarios on virtual machines. To start with, this does (at least in my machines and tests) only occur in 8.1 Update 1, not in 8.1 or 8.

It seems the workaround is quite easy: removing an email account, then adding it again deletes the non-functioning unnecessary second Junk folder.

Interesting, though; before seeing this thread, that someone else actually has the same issue, I thought it's something I have done myself and might force me to refresh Windows but decided to deal with it later. Only after finding this thread I decided to check it a bit more.

I'm happy now after finding the workaround, although I still have no idea why this was happening in the first place.

Thanks, Kari. I was going to suggest that to the OP. That's why I asked the amount of accounts. A PITA if there are many, but we have to do that which has to be done.
