I am experiencing some buffer problems when streaming catchup TV, normally only on 4OD but sometimes on BBC, ITV & SkyGo also. I am confident that it isn't anything to do with my speed as I have a fibre optic connection of 100/100Mbps and have done a speedtest that shows I get around 80Mbps downloading & 60Mbps Uploading.

I am thinking that maybe it has something to do with streaming on a 64bit browser isn't as smooth as streaming on a 32bit browser. Currently I am using Opera to stream, I have tested streaming content on IE 32 bit & I didn't get any buffering problems. I am aware though that it can sometimes depend on how many people are using the 4OD servers & quite probably on Monday at noon there is not as many people using than at the weekends. Saying that, I have experienced some buffer problems on a weekday evening.

What do you think?
Is there maybe any tweaks I can do in the registry to allow more connections or something?
Can you tell services such as 4OD to open streaming content in another media player, if so maybe you can then set the pre-buffering to a longer time to eliminate the need for buffering.

Have you tried Opera x64 vs Opera 32 bit? That may give a clue if it's really a bitness issue.
