Google Chrome (Not Responding)

Hello, new here, so I hope I have posted this in the right location.

I have a HP Laptop Pavilion Windows 8. Recently I caught the Highlite App. I finally was able to remove it, after trying every malware and adware remover I could think of. After I finally got rid of it, and all of it's annoying pop ups, the laptop and browsers work great for about a day and then the internet started freezing and I will get a "Google Chrome (Not Responding). It will also do the same thing with IE and Mozilla, but Chrome seems to be the worst of the three. Sometimes it's so bad, it's not usable. I updated Flash Shock wave yesterday, but it hasn't seemed to help.

I'm on Mozilla now. I got lucky.

Might be an idea to disable all add-ons in each browser then if all OK enable one at a time to see which one is causing the problem.

Well, I got it. I had already disabled all the add-ons and it didn't fix anything. ADwCleaner killed the highlit app. but I used Hitman Pro and it found a couple of malwares none of the others could find. So far, so good

I have gone back to FF in my win 7 laptop and my 8.1 pc, chome was being 'awkward' at times
