I'm trying to use a hotmail account I've had for at least 10 years, and get the message above, only problem is I am overseas for an extended period, my phone is in my home country and I can't receive the text they have sent or take a phone call with that phone and find myself locked out of my account, I really don't need the overprotective Microsoft making my account more secure, and another issue, my second hotmail account is linked to the blocked one, so if I have a problem I can't fix that as well

I have this constantly with my microsoft live account. I work in KSA a lot and always MS will complain about access from a non-authorised PC the first day I arrive in the country. My (normal) phone doesn't work there either.

What I did is set up a gmail account to be the recovery account - you can then choose SMS or email to authenticate.

Works for me.

Like your idea, but hate how our privacy is compromised, and today I just signed in no trouble, and on my other hotmail account I have a Case 992 disruption message, when will it end
