I have recently upgraded from XP to 8.1. Nightmare. I have dozens of issues but the main one exercising me at the moment is how to print only the first page of an email. I cannot find any options to do this. If there is an email thread extending to 34 pages, I only want to print the first page. Any suggestions please?

hi,and welcome to eightforums ,its been a while since I had a printer install on my computer ,but I would assume it would work the same as xp ,when I had xp and a printer ,if I chose to print a multi page document ,when the printer dialog box came up it would show how many pages and I could choose by changing the number listed in the box to the number of pages I wanted to print ,

having said that yours maybe different ,or printer option boxes may have changed sinc I last had a printer ,;also you might want to tell us what email program are you using and what kind of printer you have

Thanks for your input. I have Windows 8.1 which uses Windows Mail. I find it so frustrating because it is not just the lack of being able to print only the first page of a long email, it is also the fact that I cannot create a group in my contacts create a group in contacts that is irritating. Consequently I have decided to download OE Classic and see if that solves my problems! I'll let you know.

It maybe because you are using the windows mail app ,what email program did you use in winxp .

the reason I ask is because win8 may use Windows mail, but you don't have to ,you could have been using a web based mail ,or one of many free email program out there .

I use window live mail ,its different than windows mail ,live mail is a installed program on my computer ,windows mail is a web based email client./like Hotmail.com outlook.com/ gmail/yahoo ect ect

I have live setup with 3 web based email acct's [Hotmail accts ]and 2 email addresses from my internet service provider

you can set up those web based email in windows live mail if you wish .I have

Right click on the e-mail and select print. Select pages - insert 1 into the blank - click apply then click print.
