Can someone help please. My desktop icons/links to Facebook, Ebay, Google, Emails, etc, all worked yesterday, now none will work. I get a pop-up error message displaying the link and stating "unspecified error". How can I resolve this?

Hi,
Thanks for response. Yes, I tried creating shortcut again, but same message. For Google if I access the exe file direct it opens no problem.
Pardon my ignorance, but will the "restore" affect any other settings/defaults/customisation I have done?
Cheers.

Hi,

May give that a try thanks.

However, before I do I have just noticed that it is only the links/icons I created with Google that are affected. I created a link to ebay via IE and that has worked fine.

Maybe need to uninstall and reinstall Google?

Regards.

Partial solution

Managed to get Google working again by uninstalling and reinstalling. However, all my existing links/desktop icons (Windows 8) now only open in I.E. even though Google is my default browser. Any suggestions on how I can get Google to open them (without creating an application link via Google (which doesn't give you full browser toolbar functions, I.e., 'back' button, etc))?

If you meant "Chrome" instead of "Google" you can associate the link with Chrome in the links' "properties".
