IE11 processes keep open in Task Manager

After I launch IE11 and then close it(with all tabs), then I open the Task Manager on the Processes tab and there are 3 IE11 instances still open and no matter how many times I end these tasks, they'll immediately open again, consuming my ram AND CPU.
That's why I started using Chrome. Still, I'd like to know what causes this bug with IE11 in 8.1.
Any ideas?

It isn't a bug, it was how it was designed :)

But those open processes keep eating up my RAM, so it must be a flaw, why doesn't Chrome have the same issue?

Not a flaw. It only uses about 120MB Memory, at least on my system - way less than .2GB overall Ram usage. Usually systems come with 4GB RAM for everyday computers. If you need to use a lot of RAM for heavier applications, 6-8GB will be more than enough. You should encounter no slow-downs due to the processes even with 4GB Ram.

Chrome wasn't programed to keep running bits of itself after it closes. IE was, perhaps for faster load times, I'm not sure.

In fact, lots of other processes are running. Open reader, then close it. It does the same. Store, pc settings, weather, and the list goes on. Windows 8 will close things on its own if you aren't using them.

You never knew anything was 'wrong' until you peeked behind the curtain (task manager) ;)
