IE11 processes keep open in Task Manager

After I launch IE11 and then close it(with all tabs), then I open the Task Manager on the Processes tab and there are 3 IE11 instances still open and no matter how many times I end these tasks, they'll immediately open again, consuming my ram AND CPU.
That's why I started using Chrome. Still, I'd like to know what causes this bug with IE11 in 8.1.
    Any ideas?

It isn't a bug, it was how it was designed

But those open processes keep eating up my RAM, so it must be a flaw, why doesn't Chrome have the same issue?

Not a flaw. It only uses about 120MB Memory, at least on my system - way less than .2GB overall Ram usage. Usually systems come with 4GB RAM for everyday computers. If you need to use a lot of RAM for heavier applications, 6-8GB will be more than enough. You should encounter no slow-downs due to the processes even with 4GB Ram.

Chrome wasn't programed to keep running bits of itself after it closes. IE was, perhaps for faster load times, I'm not sure.

In fact, lots of other processes are running. Open reader, then close it. It does the same. Store, pc settings, weather, and the list goes on. Windows 8 will close things on its own if you aren't using them.

You never knew anything was 'wrong' until you peeked behind the curtain (task manager)

Hello fellow users. I've been loving the new Task Manager, it's better in every aspect except the time it takes to use. 1 minute is not acceptable for anything that isn't Skyrim, it takes so long that at first I assumed I hadn't pressed the keys correctly. However it's much faster to open the...

Since yesterday, I cannot open any folder on my PC and when I try to open task manager to close explorer, it closes right away. When I try to open any folder (This PC or Downloads for example) my background flashes black, then the task bar goes blank and then nothing happens. When I try to open...
I normally only use 2 apps: the Mail and the Video, and even after I close these two apps, when I take a look at the Processes tab in the Task Manager, they are still there, there's no more CPU usage but they keep using Memory, which is usually a lot. So every time I want to actually close an app I...
CPU running at 100% and at high temps and when i open task manager it quickly drops. It goes up again as soon as i close it. This may be a driver issue or a virus. I have browsed through the igfxupdate.exe virus thread and i don't have any of those files in my sys32 folder and disabling search...
I updated to Windows 8.1 last month. It was quite smooth until some issues started 2-4 days ago. I don't remember if I have done something that may cause this, but I'm quite sure that I didn't make any change to the system. The problem is, even when I am not opening any applications, my fan...
