So I currently have a "live" account, is it possible for me to move to a outlook account without losing my account information. Example being my xbox live account is attached to my live email, if I moved to outlook would I lose my membership, purchased movies, xbox music subscription and xbox G points I have earned? Thanks for any input.

Hi there. You actually have an MS account with various "sub accounts". All your info on apps, games, purchases, etc. are stored in your "main" MS account.

I'm on my phone at present, but when I get to my PC I'll shoot you more info.

Edit:

Are you meaning Outlook as in MS Office suite? Or Outlook.com?

What I am saying is when I log into my computer, WP8, xbox or any services it is with my Windows Live account email. Is there anyway for me to move my email to an outlook account but have everything switch over?

I know I can create the another email and add it to the computer but I am wanting to make an outlook with all my stuff to transfer from the live to the outlook if that makes any sense.

You will use your Live email account you have to send and receive emails in Outlook (the Office program). I don't see where you would have to change your Live account at all.

If you want to have an outlook.com email address, the easiest way is to create an alias to your existing live.com email. In doing so you get an outlook.com address to use parallel with your live.com address. See these tutorials:
An outlook.com and a live.com (or hotmail.com or msn.com) accounts are exactly the same thing. All have every feature of the others, I simply cannot find a single reason to change the domain part of a Microsoft email address to another. There's nothing to gain, no additional features, nothing else than possibly "I like outlook.com more".

It is possible to change the domain part of your Microsoft email address from live.com to outlook.com. Read this article first and think it over again before you do anything irreversible: http://winsupersite.com/windows-live/outlookcom-tip-rename-your-account

All good advice thus far but I think your concern is really on the XBOX; in that, you don't want to lose all that is currently available with your current profile (e.g., paid live registration, gametag, achievements, etc). With that said, I would strongly recommend that you post your questions at the XBOX Live Forum directly:

Or, you can take a look at this for starters:

Do any of the responders own an XBOX that is hardware connected to their PC and using Windows Media Center as a software interface? There is more to be concerned with here than just an email address changeover in Windows proper and/or just establishing a new Outlook email address. Now, if the OP is just using his PC and XBOX independently (without any hardware connection between), then all is well with the suggestions; however, if he is using that email address for "everything", he will lose ALL of his XBOX-related paid subscriptions, gametag, achievements, and anything else he paid for if he just tries to create a new email address (and start using it with his XBOX) without doing it properly to ensure that all paid items are transferred and applied accordingly.

We still need an answer to this from post #3

If the latter, it is reasonably easy to achieve through the "Message rules". Possibly thw same with Outlook in the office suite, but I don't use it.

Use several different computers during a day, so specs are irrelevant.

@davehc: Referencing the OPs specific concern, how would you do it with your own XBOX setup based on either method you have identified? I'm here to learn so please advise accordingly. Thanks, my2cents

I don't have an xbox, so, sorry, but haven't the slightest idea. Truth is, I am still not clear, from the OP, if that is what he intends? His statement was expressed as an example.
I do know, that if, as my example, I play any Metro Apps xbox games (MS Solitaire, for example) I am automatically logged on to an Xbox account.

I have an Outlook.com account. My principal Email client is Live Mail. For convenience, in my particular usage, I use the message rules to redirect all mail to the outlook.com account.

Thank you for you response to that end. I believe it is imperative that we understand the OPs specific hardware and software configuration before any recommendation can be made, relative to his intent to use a "single" email address. Now, there have been many alternative suggestions that will work; however, I have focused my responses on the intent implied by the OP and have advised him accordingly (since I have an XBOX myself). Moreover, a lack of response from the OP (to any of the suggestions) indicates that he either has already solved his own issue or he just doesn't care to acknowledge any of the suggestions put forth thus far. With that said, if the OP doesn't want to participate in his own fix, then neither will I for that matter.

Again, thanks for your response,

Regards,

Here is the tutorial for Wndows 8. I changed my xx.live.com to xx.outlook.com and it works the same. Its a matter of changing the Primary Alias to xx.outlook.com.

From the context it comes quite clear the OP means changing the domain part of a Microsoft email account from live.com to outlook.com. Logically thinking, reading the original post and question within, how would changing email client from Windows Live Mail to Office Outlook affect XBOX gaming?

how would changing email client from Windows Live Mail to Office Outlook affect XBOX gaming?

Hi Kari,

That would not affect anything.

Example being my xbox live account is attached to my live email

However, I remained focused on the fact that the OP wants to use a single "new" email address for "everything." That means he will have to change his email address in his XBOX live account and, if not done properly, he will essentially wipe out access to everything he paid for. A specific example would be where I created a primary user with an email address of original@gmail.com. Now, once done, I join XBOX Live for $59.99, I download 10 games at $49.99 a piece, I create a specific gametag so others will recognize me online, and I rack up 100,000 achievement points over time. Now, keeping all that in mind, I would not want to risk losing access to all those games by inadvertently deleting my original user (which contains all the permissions and abilities) and accidentally replacing it with a new user having an email address of allbarndnew@gmail.com which would force the OP to sign up at $59.99 again, lose access to all the games he paid for, lose his gametag, and lose all of his achievements (which would be reset to 0). In summary, because he placed so much emphasis on the XBOX example, I can only assume this is his most important concern.

Best regards,

@ my2cents: I do not understand your "two cents"?

That's exactly what I was trying to tell: the OP quite clearly wants to change his / her live.com email address to an outlook.com address. My previous post was only to comment the "Are you meaning Outlook as in MS Office suite? Or Outlook.com" question from other members. As keeping the same email address but changing the email client used would not have any impact in XBOX, it's quite clear that's not what OP is asking.

In my first post in this thread I mentioned it is possible to do what OP wants but because it can have unwanted consequences (especially regarding XBOX) I recommended reading the article by Paul Thurrot before doing it.
