Setting up another Outlook acct in different user acct

I’ve created a separate user account in my laptop with Windows 8.1 OS. Actually three altogether. For sake of example here. Account 1 is my main and administrive one. Account 2 is what I created. Third, Account 3, is also created. Account 1 is my personal. Account 2 is for my main business. Account 3 is designated for work jobs.
I have Outlook 2013 in Account 1 which is strictly personal correspondences. I want do a total separate Outlook in Account 2 to handle all of my business correspondences. Do not want to mix business with personal. My question is how do I do this? I’ve looked and googled everywhere. Cannot find any good answer or sources. Microsoft's knowledge site was no help
Outlook I got came with Microsoft Office Suite package. It is one user license. Is this still valid to have multiple Outlook accounts all still on same laptop? That I couldn't find the answer.
Please help. Also, try not to blow me away. I’m still fairly new to 8.1 after being on Windows 7 for years. Still having trouble working my way around 8.1. Stupid charms which is another story.

Thanks much in advance.

Sure! Really easy.

All email accounts will be separate if you have separate computer user accounts for login. Just set each one up on each account separately, according to the correct user account that you want associated with your email account.

Here is how to set up an email account on outlook: How to setup an Internet email account in Outlook 2013

Dusty,

Thanks but the link you provided didn't help. Just can't get Outlook working inside Account 2. One time I had it and then it "crashed" when I couldn't get to read a separate PST file. I uninstall and reinstall Outlook in Account 2 to no avail. I think it had an issue of the PST residing inside the Account 1 althought it should not make any difference where the file is. When I had Windows 7 on previous laptop, I had Outlook 2003 in Account 1 while Outlook Express each for Account 2 and 3. Worked beautifully. Unfortunately Outlook Express doesn't exist anyone with new versions.

Tried again just now. Suddenly I saw the following error window and here what it said, verbatimly:

Cannot start Miscrosoft Outlook. Cannot open Outlook Window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The operation failed.

Any ideas? Anyone else experienced these kind of issues I'm having? Just hate Window 8.1.

Yea, what I would do would be to repair outlook. In control panel under uninstall programs, click office and select repair. [Edit] you actually have to click 'change', and then select 'repair' [/edit]

Restart. Follow this link to see about fixing the PST errors: Repair Outlook Data Files (.pst and .ost) - Outlook - Office.com

Let me know if you still have problems, and we'll continue. Also, sorry for the late reply, I wasn't getting email for some reason

For some strange reason I encountered a system error having a code 30126-4. Looked it up on Microsoft's website and it suggested using their Fix It program. Supposely to fix whatever error may be embedded or hidden somewhere in OS while uninstalling? I don't really know. All I know it uninstalled entire Office app. Reinstalled the app upon throwing in the CD. I got back my Outlook back in Account 1 to where it left off like it never left. It remembered somehow because I didn't even have to reconfigure email account in the Account Settings under File tab.

Tried to set up Account 2 again with no avail. I am right back to same error window pointed out in Post #3 "Cannot open..."

I think I need someone with an expertise to come online via remote access to see the problem first hand. Does Microsoft tech support offer this kind of assistance?

Lima, did you read through this particular tutorial yet?[DEL] It is all the same as 2010, just Office is called 15, and so is the folder it has you look for. [/DEL]

*Edit* I found a better tutorial specifically for office 2013: Repair Outlook Data Files (.pst and .ost) - Outlook - Office.com

Sorry Dusty my friend. Tried it per your latest suggested link. Still no change. Can't overcome the issue with Account 2. Account 1 Outlook still remains intact. There is something holding back inside Account 2 like a hidden dungeon only God know what or where it might be. Sounds like to me that Outlook app in Account 2 is in deep doo-doo territory. Unless nothing else to try or other user(s) would try take a stab, I guess I have to resort to the big guns i.e. Mircosoft. Can't believe it Microsoft had to make life so convoluted!

lol. Dang. There is another option that should be pretty successful. Use any administrative account you have and remove office again, but this time use revo uninstaller free: Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download - Uninstall software, remove programs, solve uninstall problems *BEFORE YOU REMOVE OFFICE (edit): See this post if you want to keep outlook contacts, emails, etc.: http://www.eightforums.com/browsers...ok-acct-different-user-acct-2.html#post362430

After installing Revo, run it and find office in the list and uninstall it completely, and select advanced mode when presented with the option. Office will remove itself, then you can go through the subsequent Revo pop-ups to check every file and make sure office is completely gone with no trace. Then you can install office again, and you can even remove Revo from your computer if you'd like. This may take 15 minutes to complete, but it should work. After, make sure office is updated through control panel update, restart, and try those dang accounts again, one per user account. It may take longer than 15 minutes because you have to go into every account individually to assign their email account. I prefer IMAP, if you are presented with the option. To read more about IMAP vs POP and what works best for you, see: POP Vs. IMAP on the iPhone | eHow (ignore the iPhone bit). Good luck! If you don't want to do this, no sweat, give MS a call. Hope this all works out for ya!

if outlook opens for any account at all, then it stands to reason its the pst? or am I missing something? uninstalling outlook wont fix anything if its opening for other accounts, theres nothing wrong with it..

Sorry if I am rehashing anything, Ive kind of gotten confessed with the process.

^ It should disconnect outlook from any previous .pst files and create a new one. Round-about way of doing it. If it doesn't work, we'll go the old style way of taking care of the .pst file as shown in the pic (showing how to get to Mail):

OK, but If its the pst file, Id just copy it somewhere safe, delete the original, set up a new account, download something like SynchPst for Outlook (I use it, its not free) copy over vital records/emails/addresses into the new PST. (easy program to use) just make sure you back up the original pst files to separate locations first for safety

I am only familur with 2007 dusty. Sounds like you have more experience with 13

@antspants - I am not so familiar with the inner workings, so my computer savvy language is lacking, such as claiming it will 'disconnect' from the .pst file. This method works for certain situations, while dealing with the .pst file (via mail in control panel) is a way to fix other issues, I guess. The OP already removed Outlook, so I guess I wasn't worried about saving items in the file.

@Lima - I'd like to remove the old .pst and start again. So here are some export links if, Lima, you need to save your stuff:
export contacts: Export contacts - Outlook - Office.com
import contacts: Import contacts into an Outlook.com account - Outlook - Office.com
import/export items: Import Outlook items from an Outlook Data File (.pst) - Outlook - Office.com

@antspants - I am not an authority on this matter, but I've messed with outlook on a few computers. I guess I'm trying to say I don't know everything, so you're more than welcome to bring in your suggestions :)
Copying the .pst file seems too easy to be real. Is it that easy? o.0

Uninstalling outlook wont remove a pst file. Pst files by default are stored in the "user" account in an appdata folder.
If Lima was to uninstall outlook, reinstall, setup the account per normal as it was before, it is going to find the old pst.

Yes, removing a pst file will cause outlook to create a new pst file as most everything it looks for to open and operate a specific account is dependent on that pst. If it isnt there, it does the next logical thing for outlook to do, create a new one

No, it won't remove a .pst file. It should allow you, however, to create a new one when you enter your email credentials all over again. If it doesn't, only then will you need to go searching deeper for the problem by fixing a 'corrupt' file, or a file that has incorrect credentials. I was waiting on describing how to do this because I would need to look up a tutorial for easy instructions. Hopefully I am making sense lol. At least this is how I've worked it in the past.

The reason for removing outlook completely is to ensure that the fault doesn't lie with outlook at all, as well as allowing the creation of a new account. Basically this is to 'start over'. Perhaps it is an overabundance of caution on my part. Usually it is rare for outlook (I should say 2013) to stay stuck with an old .pst file, but it happens. Just waiting on Lima to let me know if she had any success. She may very well have decided to wait for a call to MS.

I don't always have the best method of doing stuff, but I hope I can at least clear all the bases.

Hope I cleared up my reasoning a bit better. My words and thoughts can get murky at night, since I fear sleep lol. :)

Thanks for your input, very valuable

I understand what you're saying but this is how I understand it

A. Outlook opens for some accounts = outlook is not broken

B. Outlook wont open for 1 account = most likely scenario is pst file is broken.

C. Removing the broken pst will have the same effect as uninstalling then reinstalling

D. Syncing pst files (to an extent) between the old and new pst files will restore most things in the account

Alt option. Copy pst onto disk, open in windows 7 and use the inbox repair tool. Has worked before.

Just catching up on the reads thus far. Was away since my last post. Thanks Dusty & Antpants. Give me a couple of days to try out some of the interesting suggestions mentioned. LOL - Lima is a woman! In your dreams. Just couldn't think of better name at the time.

Quick reiteration of the facts:

1. User Account 1 - my main and admin. Set up for my personal use. Outlook app and pst file working just dandy.

2. User Account 2 - my intended use for business. Outlook app linked. But won't load up successfully. Thus the window error as mentioned. Haven't gotten to 2nd pst file yet (almost did once before the world came crashing down).

3. User Account 3 - created for eventual 2nd business use. Once I figure how to get Outlook working - and working smoothly - in User Account 2, then I should be proceed setting third Outlook app which I have 3rd pst file to go with.

4. 2013 Microsoft Suite other apps that came from same CD, one license, that had Outlook (PP, Access, etc as well). Was able to link Word and Excel to User Account 2 and each opens like a charm. Therefore it stands to reason that MS do allow Suite apps to migrate to other user accounts with no issue at all. This is so baffling why Outlook is such a hard ass problem for me!

So, give me a couple of days. I'll be back then with my findings.

-Lima
