Can I get rid of hotmail from the W8 mail program?

I am using the mail program that came with W8. It defaults to a Hotmail account I don't use, and I have to click on the account I do use.
Can I get rid of the Hotmail account?
I could just switch to gmail, but it would work better this way if I can get rid of Hotmail.

You can remove your Hotmail account not a problem by using the following steps:

Although what I have done is actually created a shortcut on my start menu for my preferred mail box. To do this follow these steps:

1. Bring up your mail up and then in your mail app on the bottom left where your accounts are shown click the mailbox you want to pin, then right click



2. Click pin to start



3. Now you will be able to click straight in to your preferred email account from the start screen.
