If you choose to install Opera Mail, set it up as IMAP not POP.

    What the ...

Are you serious? I ask about a browser issue and you direct me to a mail client? Are you serious?!?

I'm really beginning to think I wasted my time joining this site, as upon further browsing, the place seems to be, well, shall we say lacking in the amount of expertise I will require for any real help? I'll be looking for other sites that can assist me, as I doubt this place has the technical know how to do very much at this point. Users are too busy being pushers of Opera, etc. No thanks.

I'm browsing on Windows 7 right now. I just wanted to ask, when you click a link and it asks through which browser you want to open, isn't there an option to "select from a list of installed programs"?

    You said:

Is there some way to add a program, any program, especially when not installed under Program Files, to the list of Registered Default programs so that I can set defaults for it?
    Opera mail fits that description.

Good luck getting anymore help anywhere.

Maybe you can find help here:

I'm actually having a very odd problem... I have an older laptop that I have updated to Win 8.1, installed drivers, etc. At some point, 8.1 stopped remembering that Opera is my default browser and when an active hyperlink is clicked from a window (such as from Steam, Skype or other source)...

I think I already know the answer but I wanted to know if there is a way to keep/launch ModernIE if you make something other than IE your default browser? Although it has a mess for favorites I do like the simplicity of ModernIE and often prefer to browse using it from the Start screen....
I noticed that you can only set the default program for FTP to a browser. I've created an FTP share in Explorer, and it would be useful to be able to click on a video file and directly play it with e.g. VLC instead of a browser. Would this be possible? Thanks in advance.
