    Hi again Milesahead,

I really don't think that adjusting gamma is the answer to your issue. Is it only FF that is causing you grief? Have you tried any form of monitor calibration? Are you using a VGA, DVI or HDMI connection? If VGA, I believe an optimum clock/phase adjustment might be worth looking into. There are downloadable calibration utilities out there and some vendors (like HP) also provide them for their specific monitors. Just a thought.

    Edit:
I went back and saw that you are having trouble with multiple browsers. Give the monitor calibration a shot and see what happens.

    Good luck.

I did the monitor color calibration a couple of times. For awhile things seemed to be fine. Then for no apparent reason it's back to fuzzy text. I'll just have to keep at it I suppose. It's killer when there is only hw brightness control and no contrast(Toshiba Laptop.)

    Hi again MileAhead,

Sorry to hear you are still having such an issue. Now, since I saw you made reference to your "laptop" in your last response, I guess all of my previous recommendations were most likely NA to your current condition. Anyway, it might be worth your while to provide a bit more background information leading up to your issue (if you are interested in sharing that information with others). Specifically, things like providing you specific model number would allow others (with the exact same laptop) to report if they are having a similar issue or if everything is fine. Once know, a stare and compare might result in a fix for you. It would also be interest to know, if it ever worked and, if yes to that, when the problem started? There has to be someone out there with the same laptop as you.

    Good luck,

I updated system specs. The specific Satellite is C55D-A. The red shift issue is recent but the "fuzzy text" was a problem out of the box. I downloaded more recent catalyst software. The text sharpened up a bit after doing the color calibration including gamma adjustment. Recently it got fuzzy again. Maybe it's my eyes and not the monitor. But at any rate I see now that the new catalyst software does in fact have a contrast slider. Originally this was not available. Brightness only. The only contrast adjustment originally was to set the machine to "high contrast mode."

What I've started doing now is have the color adjustment settings in the catalyst open side by side with the browser. Move the contrast a bit this way and that.. trying to get it so it looks OK with the pages I use every day. Right clicking on the desktop shows AMD Catalyst Control Center. Those are the adjustments I'm talking about. Since contrast is the main issue the gamma corrector software that bypasses AMD settings is of limited use.

Therefore I'd say if you bought a Toshiba Satellite C55D-A with Windows 8.0 go to Toshiba and download the Catalyst software to get a contrast control for the built in monitor.

As it stands now I don't detect any color shift when scrolling. It's just a matter of zeroing in the contrast and brightness to look good across the various web pages.

Edit: sorry if I seemed to vacillate. The catalyst controls are a bit confusing as there are sections for desktop, video etc.. I finally zeroed in on the group for the built in monitor.

    Hi again MilesAhead,

Glad you are making some progress in resolving your issue. Thanks for updating your specs too! Hopefully, someone with the same rig will respond so you can compare apples-to-apples.

    Good luck my friend,
