why are there 3 "sent mail" folders?

Hi I'm new to the Forums and have a new computer with Windows 8.1. Can anyone tell me why I have the following 3 folders: Sent Items. Sent Mail, sent-mail ? I'm really confused as they seem to be the same. Can someone clarify why I have these and what the difference between them is. Thx in advance.

You need to add more info to get help with this.

What email client program are you using, such as MS Office Outlook, Windows Live Mail, Mozilla Thunderbird, etc. ?
Or, are you using Web Mail?

Who is your email provider such as Gmail, Hotmail, Outlook.com, Yahoo, your ISP email, etc. ?

Each client program and email provider may have settings that could cause this from what I know.

    3-sent mail folders

Hi DavidE- thanks for your reply and yes, I guess I should have given everyone a little bit more information.
I am using Windows Live Mail.
    My email provider is Telus.net
    I live in Canada.
Not too sure what else you need, but ask and I will get it for you. Thanks in advance

You probably have multiple email accounts set up with Windows Live Mail. Each account will have its own Sent XXX folder associated with it.

For Gmail, the folder is called: Sent Email
For Yahoo Mail, the folder is called: Sent Items

To add more to what I said ...

In my examples I'm using Win 7 32 bit, Windows Live Mail 2011(WLM), a Gmail account using IMAP access.
I don't have Win 8, so I don't know if that makes a difference for this.

Can you log into your Telus.net account using WEB mail?
There may be settings in there you need to review/adjust.

My screen print 1 example is for a Gmail (Google) account I have, logged into Gmail WEB mail.
Settings for Labels and Show in IMAP affect what I see in WLM.
Your settings in Telus (WEB mail) might explain why you see what you do in WLM.
I don't have a Telus account, so I can't check what is available.

My screen print 2 example is for the Gmail account in WLM.
When I right click on a folder I may be able to Hide or Delete the folder.
That won't answer why you see what you do, but it may give you a workaround you prefer.

Screen print 1 from Gmail WEB mail:

    Screen print 2 from WLM:
