My IE has the old style icon instead of the metro icon (in fact, I'm not sure that my IE is using the Metro interface I have read about). Anyone else get this problem? Any fix?

Thanks!

Thanks for the link... that doesn't seem to work though. It seems like IE is "stuck" in desktop mode and it can't get to Metro mode. It doesn't even have a Metro icon.

Unfortunately Metro IE only works if it is a default browser.

Go to Start / press :orb:
write "Default"
Open Default Programs
Choose Set Your Default Programs
Chose Internet Explorer
Click Set this Program as Default

Well, thanks for the replies, all... I wish I would have got these last night as I did some experimenting and decided to do a "Windows Refresh" to see if that would bring the Metro back... bad move.

Everything had gone great with my upgrade until I tried to fix this one small problem with the IE. The "Refresh" did fix the Metro IE, but I then had more problems than I could deal with... missing drivers, missing programs, all kinds of stuff. So I threw in the towel and did a fresh install today.

Anyway, I'm back on a fresh install... using the Metro IE now... thanks again for all the responses, and I feel silly knowing that it was such a simple solution. I would not recommend using the "Windows Refresh" unless it is a last ditch effort to fix something. It caused a lot of problems on my end.

ya, set ie10 as the default browser. that should turn on the metro mode.
and Windows Refresh caused a LOT of problems for me too...
