Has anyone gotten SyncPlaces 5.1.0C to work with ftp? No matter how I chop the path on the server when I upload bookmarks I get "transfer in progress" then it's overwritten in the dialog with "path not found." It's really baffling.

I'm not familiar with SyncPlaces at all so I can't say for sure. Are the bookmarks being saved successfully?

I use SyncBack Free edition to backup, sync or mirror various files. It does feature ftp & sftp, which is nice.

It is really peculiar. Years ago when I first used SyncPlaces it would sync using my ftp account, but not to local HD. Now it's the reverse. I have 2 free ftp accounts. They both have something unusual that SincPlaces doesn't seem able to handle. One account uses a non-standard port. The other has a user name string with the '@' symbol like facebook. I can't seem to get a plain vanilla ftp with username milesahead and standard port number. It's frustrating.

Now on my 3rd free ftp. Cannot connect at all even with FileZilla. Most peculiar.

It occurs to me FTP on this free site was designed to be broken. The only thing that "works" is their http upload applet. The sum total of all files uploaded cannot exceed One MB. (Yup 1 MB.)

If you want a laugh I'd post my page but they run ads. Put it this way, my page Title is "FTP Broken Here"

I'm done wasting time. I'll just upload syncplaces.json manually to the free site that works with FZ. (It's free because a friend gave me some space. It's not one of those fake free FTP deals.)

A 1 meg limit is beyond strange..

For the heck of it I took a look at this add-on. It seems a little flimsy to say the least. Oh well, I can vouch for SyncBack though, works like a charm.

I hope you get it sorted out. :)

It worked great when I had my own ftp account using the standard port number. Unfortunately my friend's setup uses a non-standard port for better security. It's no big deal. It would just be nice if simple things worked as expected. :)
