please don't sent me to 'tutorials' - i'm so lost there - don't know which category to choose:
deleted (!) IE icon from taskbar - when i replaced it back, it was loading as MSN - at least it was a browser ! then i tried to change 'address' in I.E. address bar - hoping to get back to I.E. loading as browser - didn't work - keep getting ''make sure address is correct'' notice - if i rite click mouse in current IE icon in task bar i get menu - tried all options - keep getting error - clicked on 'fix' on that page but didn't help ! i need more than one browser (currently have Chrome) - should i just download another browser altogether and forget about finding I.E. 10 ? I know i had IE 10 - should i just download IE 11 and install that? or FireFox or Opera ? thanks so much - i'm really worried ! Edythe

You could try IE 11 & see what happens.

If it has problems, I suggest Opera.
I've used it for sometime now with no issues.

If Opera doesn't suit you try another.

I do not use IE 11.
Too many bugs in it for me. :(

The new Opera has some similarities to Chrome where you can add themes and apps that make it easy to have quick access to your favorite things on the internet.

Hello Edythe,

Internet Explorer has MSN set as it's homepage by default. Is this what you are seeing below? If so, then that's the issue, and you should be able to set whatever website you like as your homepage instead.

thanks so much for the abaove -- that's exactly what i see now when i click on ie -went to your tutor-area and was able to see what you're saying but anyway i swear that didn't happen in the past when i'd click on IE icon ! i'd get Internet Explorer - nothing like MSN, ETC. - LOL - I i don't know 'what' to type in that 'block' area for a homepage that would just load ''traditional' (what i call it ) Internet Explorer search page (home page) ...hate to sound stupid - but i do want another browser for safety sake ... should i be spending so much time on IE as a browser(alternate) and just install another ? any that you like ? at this point i'm happy i got back 'something' that will launch as a 'broswer' even if it's msn -which i see is part of Lenovo(new computer) because it shows ''Lenovo/MSN'' (or reverse?) anyway i'm getting something but as a 'browser' how does msn 'rate' ? thanks again for your help ! '''lost in space'' ...

wow thanks for staying with me ! if i choose ''current' i'm assuming the 'current' visited site would become my home page because i'm making the 'address change' while at 'that' particular site ? If ''whateaver current site on my screen then becomes my 'home page' , when 'launched' (by clicking on IE icon) & want to do an internet search, would i'd look for the above the page for the address-bar & use that 'rectangle' area as 'searching' the web? If 'yes', am i still using Internet Explorer when i do that? (and the 'last visited' page that has become my home page is not actually doing the search?) thank you so much !

All correct. One thing I forgot. After you have selected "current" click "Apply", bottom right corner.

If you had reset Internet Explorer, then that would have also reset the homepage back to the default MSN as well.

You would just need to go to the site you want to set as you homepage to be able to set it as such using the method in the tutorial below. :)

i understood what you showed above but i don't have a little 'arrow' showing up by the rite - maybe Win 8 has a different config for choices than 7 - but i think i'll just stop hitting buttons and just use the lenovo msn for a while 'if' i ever need an 'emergency' browser should anything happen with ''Chrome' -i'm using that all the time anyway...- i don't know the official 'address'' of Internet Explorer' but i'm pretty sure that's was showing originally in that area as my 'home page' (before my 'damage=control) ... since i'm not using it now as a 'browser' i'll just let it 'sit' until i get up the nerve to try going to a 'site' then typing that site's address into the ''home page' block in IE then hitting ok/apply . (i assume i get the 'legal' address right off the search area showing once i get to that 'chosen-site' ..... : 'www. blah blah''..copy/paste it into that area then o.k./apply ...
Thanks so much for all your help !!!!

IE has no web address. It is a program on your PC. But you can start with just a blank page.
