Hello,

I cannot remove my Windows Live email account so whenever I want to send email, I had to click on the "Gmail" tab first then compose email and I don't want this because it's somehow not efficient.

I use the default Windows 8.1 Mail client but I never used my Windows Live account.

Is there any ways to remove Windows Live email or at least make Gmail as the default email address on Windows Mail?

Thank you.

What email client are you using or are you using the email app?

It is the on the Windows 8.1 itself. Is that the email app? Start > Mail.

If you're referring to the 1 on Start screen, I just leave that alone and use Windows Live Mail on the desktop from Windows Live Essentials Then you decide which one is default acct.

Ah, so that client in start screen is bad? Okay, I'll try Windows Live Essentials' client then.

Thanks.

EDIT: How do I minimize the client to system tray?
EDIT 2: Never mind. It seems that it's already on system tray.

Can't you just click on the plus sign to write a new message, then "more" to choose your from address in Windows mail? Sorry I cant replicate your problem, it remembers the last account I was viewing and sends from that account, maybe its different for you but for me it works fine. In my opinion its not efficient to install and run another program, where you will have to make just as many if not more clicks.
You can't remove your live account because it is tied to windows.

Ok I was able to replicate the problem, I ended the task in task manager and sure enough it opened to my live account first. But this makes sense since it is the windows account and it is a windows app. They should add an option as to which is shown when the app is opened. But it does remember as long as my windows session is open.
