Access Denied to My Bank Site

HI

This forum is my last resort. My OS is Windows 8.1 - 64 bit

When I try to access my bank I get this error "ACCESS DENIED - You don't have permission to access "http://easywebcpo.td.com/waw/idp/login.htm?" on this server.Reference #18.21f97141.1387364117.290d00d" (I don't know why there is no 's' at the end of the http in this error as there is in the address bar)

This started happening last Sat and I can't help but think it may be one of Windows updates. It doesn't matter which browser I use, I get the same error.

I did do a system restore to before Sat. but it didn't help. It is so frustrating. I have looked and looked on the internet to find an answer to no avail.

Thanks for any help

Did you call the bank? I just tried the same url and it came up with a "service interruption" message, like it is down. Maybe the problem is with the bank's systems.

Another thing that can happen is that the URL that you have bookmarked can stop working. Try looking up the bank via google and go in fresh through the home page, find the login screen, and proceed from there.

Hi and Thanks for the reply.

Yes I have typed the address in as well and I get the same error. IE, Google, Opera all give me the same message. I can get into my bank on my work computer with no issues so it is something related to my computer.

I have contacted the bank also to no avail.

I am at my wits end.

If your system has detected a virus, whatever browser you were using was correct in blocking you from it, you could have been keylogged.

I would run all AV programs you got, including malwarebytes, and check for rootkits. This is just for safety.

I used to get this same kind of error logging in to my Foremost Insurance account.

Your "Internet Options" which you can get to in Control Panel or IE, controls all browsers on the system. Open up that, and go to the last panel, "Advanced" and make sure you have all TLS and SSL options checked. Also make sure you do NOT have "Allow software to install even if sig is invalid" and CHECK "Disable saving encrypted sites to disk".

It is probably a security setting blocking you until you have it set right. Check your Security Panel and set all zones to Default.

Recently lost my Windows 8 on my main PC, had to go back to Windows 7.
Thank you XweAponX for your help but nothing works. I'm so frustrated I feel like reformatting this computer and I've only had it for a week. How can a new computer go so off the rails so fast. Is this a fault of Windows 8/8.1? It's pretty disheartning to say the least. Thanks again for your time.

Sometimes a bank site will just have problems.

Check your AV programs and make sure that they have not BLOCKED the site.

There Is one other thing I want you to do:

In the same Internet Options panel, go to "Connections":

IP Connections.png

Then click on "LAN SETTINGS"

IP Lan.png

And delete ANY Proxy address which may be in there- And UNCHECK the Proxy Box.

Not sure where my reply went. I posted it last night but ..... oh well.
I'm not very tech savvy but XweAponX my settings there look fine I think. Mine is laid out a tad different than yours.
ectech not sure what all that means but I do see the security info at the top. I'm shocked.

Thanks again for your help guys.

Yes I know it works but it doesn't work on my computer for some reason. I can get it on my work computer no problem. This is why I'm posting on this forum.

Flushing the URLCache might fix it.

Run..
Code:
Certutil -URLCache * delete

..from an administative command prompt.

Hi loopygram. I just had the same problem. None of the suggestions worked for me, so i went to my "goTo" program for things above my paygrade. Download the free program called "CCleaner" from Piriform. Once downloaded close your browser and look at the two tabs at the top of CCleaner labeled Windows/Applications. Under Windows tab: select Temporary Internet Files, Cookies, Recently Typed URLs, index.dat files, Last Download Location. Under Applications tab: Firefox select Internet Cache, Cookies, Download History, Session, Site Preferences. Hit Analyze if you want to see what it is going to get deleted before you use it. Then hit "Run Cleaner"..it will come up with a warning message, but in truth you can always restore the computer to an earlier date if you don't like what gets deleted. By hitting the button you delete all the above mentioned garbage, and if you are like me you should be able to access TDBank on your browser again. This is the only solution that worked for me. Cheers!

Thank you 'Passing Thru'

I will try that when I get home from work. This seems to happen a lot since I got Windows 8. Never had a problem before with 7. I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks again.

Wow, you're still here after you posted in Jan 2013! I had to put this up because when I Googled "TDBank, Access Denied" I got 887,000 results. That's a lot of frustrated people. BTW, I don't think this is a Windows problem. I think it is a bank security problem. TDBank seems to have one of the most aggressive security check-in systems I've ever seen, and it is really hurting their client base. I called customer service there, and they were totally clueless. Hard to believe this has been going on so long.

Yeah well this is likely the 4th or 5th time this has happened to me and like you I have contacted customer service at TD and only got one guy who managed to fix it for me but then it just happens again. I turned off windows updates thinking maybe that had something to do with it but like you I have my doubts. It is very frustrating. When I talk to them they usually act as if they've never heard of that problem before but I guess they don't want to admit they don't know why its doing that. Sometimes I have done a system restore and that will work but sometimes it doesn't work either. I've been on their Facebook page and asked about it also to no avail. I'm thinking very seriously of changing banks but thats a PITA also.

Just out of curiosity are you using Avast Virus protection? That's what I use, and 9 times out of 10 when something out of the blue starts screwing up your system its ALWAYS the update to the antivirus program. I started my computer one day and all I got was a black screen. You know that feeling. Argggh, the giant sucking black hole is here...please lord take me now  !

So I knew the last thing I did was update Avast, so I did a restart and at the blinking cursor hit F8 to enter into "Safe Mode" which doesn't load any drivers. I then disabled Avast in safe mode went back to a regular startup and sure enough everything loaded fine. I then went into Avast and changed the setting to load it after the boot was complete. Like I said, Anti-virus programs are usually the culprit when something bad happens out of the blue. That could also be what's happening here..I don't know.

If CCleaner doesn't work for you let me know. I'll give you all the boxes I have checked in the program (I have 2 Avast boxes checked for versions 6 & 8). There's a lot of them and maybe the ones I gave you weren't enough.

Yes I do use Avast and you could be right. I know it has caused a problem with a couple of other programs. I'll have to have a closer look at that and try your suggestions. At this point I will try anything. It just seems strange that so many people are having this issue but TD doesn't seem to know anything about it.

You have been a great help and i thank you. Whether your suggestions work or not you have been so nice to take the time to help at least. I will post back here when/if I get it fixed. Thanks again. Almost time to head home. Happy Friday and have a good weekend. :dinesh:

So decided to disable my Avast and access was still denied. I totally removed avast and had access. I downloaded/installed AVG and again no access, uninstalled AVG and had access. I tried 2 other anitivirus programs with the same result. It's just so weird. Right now I only have my windows firewall. I can't even turn on windows defender. I'm so frustrated to say the least.
