    Favorite Lists not staying on Left side of screen using IE

    Using Windows 8 IE 10. I have a long list of favorites that I like to keep on the left side of my screen. For some reason the list does not always stay there. I have to go to the "Star" ( view Favorites") on the top right and use the pin favorites which will then put on the left, but they do not always stay there. I seems like a continous process. Is there a setting I am not doing right?

    Hello fdenny,

    Usually the Favorites Center will stay pinned to the left until you close it. See if this may help.

    IE is always open at least 95% of the time my computer is on. It seems to say to the left for awhile then it will disappear and I have to re-pin. This will happen when IE has not been closed

    The Favorites Center should stay pinned to left even when you close IE. It's only if you click on the Star icon, close Favorites Center, or unpin Favorites Center should the Favorites Center go back to the right side.

    As a test, run Internet Explorer with no add-ons to see how the Favorites Center behaves in it. If it works properly in it, then some IE add-on you installed may be the cause.

    (To create IE no add-ons shortcut)
    "%ProgramFiles%\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -extoff

    In addition, here's the registry setting to pin Favorites Center in IE.

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\LinksExplorer]

    "Docked"=dword:00000001 = Pinned

    OR

    "Docked"=dword:00000000 = unpinned

    First test to see how it works in IE No Add-ons to rule out any installed add-ons or toolbars as a cause.

    Here's a .reg file that will set your Favorites Center to be pinned. You'll just need to download it, close IE, double click on it to merge it, approve the prompts to approve the merge, and open IE to verify if it's pinned.
