Hi,
I am a bit of a newbie to uTorrent.
As it says in the thread subject I am experiencing that when downloading with uTorrent the general browsing is either very slow or impossible (page not responsive).
I have recently found a thread that suggests a few tweaks that could help, I have implemented them but have not given it enough time so don't know if they work.
The tweaks were;
Lowering net.max_halfopen to 4
bt.connect_speed to 4
disabling DHT
disabling UPnP
lowering the global maximum number of connections to 200? 100? 50? (I have chosen 50)
disabling UPnP and NAT-PMP
lowering the upload slots to 4¨
limiting the upload limit to 100 kB/s
enabling outgoing protocol encryption
I have set listening port to 6881 & have port forwarded this port

I have a fiber optic connection of 95 Mbps downloading and 60 Mbps uploading.

I'm not really sure about this myself but a quick question...

Is browsing slow while you have uTorrent open or when you are actually downloading things through uTorrent?
The reason i ask is because if its the later then could your internet bandwidth be maxed out?

i.e.
If your line only takes a maximum of 1mb and utorrent is download at 800 - 1000kbps then browsing would be much slower due to the bandwidth on your line being maxed out.

Regards,
Jamie

thanks for reply

the download speed i get on average with utorrent is 2MB/

as i mentioned in the first post, i have a connection speed of 95 Mbps download ^ 60 Mbps upload, so I cant seethat this would be a problem

I would try playing around with the upload limit. It doesn't always produce logical predictable results. A little trial and error may work wonders. :)
