Frequent (not)

Can anyone tell me if there is a way of deleting all the alleged 'Frequent' buttons from the foot of the screen when I go into IE. Obviously I've tried deleting them individually but they insist on returning. Ideally I'd like to get rid of 'Frequent' itself so more of my genuine 'Favourites' would show.
Any suggestions please?

Delete IE history in the desktop version, Disk Cleanup, or other programs such as CCleaner.

Thanks HG. That certainly got rid. I should be running ccleaner more often anyway. Is there a way of deleting the whole category so they never come back and the heading 'Frequent' doesn't even appear?

Good question.

One way is to delete history upon closing IE to keep it at least less frequent; Open IE (desktop) > Tools (gear) > Internet options > Choose delete browsing history upon exit.

Or press settings there > You’ll notice a path there where browser history is stored. I tried choosing “Never” for checking newer versions of web page, set “Disk space to use” to 0, 0 days on “History” tab, and unchecked the box on the “Caches and databases” tab. It gives me a warning to place a number in “Disk space to use”. Ugh! If I’m not using a cache or database what would that matter? No matter what I did it kept a History.

Conclusion: Sorry. This is beyond my knowledge. Perhaps someone else knows of a way.

LOL! Perhaps one can move that INetCache folder over to an office in Redmond, WA?

The cache is different from history/recent links. You should always enable it, it speeds up browsing (it keep s pages/images in memory).Check this for your problem : Recent Items - Turn On or Off - Windows 7 Help Forums
