I cannot see web pages through IE, Mozilla or Chrome

    Dear all,
I just upgrade my laptop from WIN8 to WIN8.1 . The problem is that I cannot see the web pages through IE, Mozilla or Chrome in Desktop Mode while IE working fine in WIN8 Mode. All programs say that they cannot display the page. If I ping the google through command prompt is OK and I am getting a reply. My antvirus is the ESET.
Have you any idea what cause this problem?

    Thanks
    Elias

So what you are saying, IE worked fine before the upgrde to Win 8.1 ? But you can view the pages in Metro ?

Win 8.1 installed without any error codes ?

Check the Event Viewer in the Control Panel for errors and disable ESET, let us know results.

I have completely uninstall the ESET. Nothing. The bad thing is that there is no connection not only to Browsers but also to some programs when checking the internet for updates like TUNES2014.
    I really cannot understand why.

Is everything normal in Metro ?

Try to reset IE. Internet Options/Advanced/Reset (select Delete Personal Settings)

If that does not work, consider a Refresh. May lose some apps, but files should be saved.

    RudeBoy,
Have you try to do a CHECK FOR UPDATE to a program but also to proceed with this update? I did with REVO INSTALLER the program says that there is a newer version but it cannot download it because there is no Internet connection.

yes I have, I managed to get internet to come through intermittently by selecting and unselecting wifi on - but it didn't fix anything.
I have a useless pc with no internet because of windows 8.1 and I can't even restore, what do I do?

    Hello to all of you.
The problem was in firewall and the answer is in this link .
I think that this is a bug of the upgrade and Microsoft must fix it.

If i did this correctly, this didnt work for me unfortunetly
Doesnt matter if i add chrome or all 3 browsers, private and/or public, there's no change for me
The internet will still only work for 2 minutes after restart

RudeBoy, it does not matter how many browsers you put in the firewall.
The difference with me is that you have Internet for 2 minutes while I didn't have at all in Desktop Mode. Tell me in Metro mode do you have Internet after the pass of the 2 minutes?
