Weird Display problem with IE10 Manage Addons window

Hi,

I am hoping someone will take a look at this and see if they can duplicate the problem. I don't run win8 but value the sevenforums and Brink/Shawn's knowledgable troubleshooting and thought I'd ask here. I'm merely interested because I can't duplicate it on my own. The Manage Addon window in IE10 is not displaying correctly and there seems to be no way to resize the two panes that are not showing correctly. Do you think this would be a registry problem or do you think a reinstall of IE10 would override whatever setting is causing the window to display improperly. Would an uninstall and reinstall of IE10 be necessary or the best course? What do you think?

Thanks.

This is the original thread that I was interested in.

Hello gvstn, and welcome to Eight Forums.

It appears that you should be able to drag the bottom and side borders of that window down more until you to see more of what's in the window.

Hope this helps, :)

OK, so have you tried dragging the bottom and sides to make the window bigger?

I'm going to post back over there but I believe she already tried resizing. You can see in your own Manage Addons window that there is a limit to how small you can make the window. No matter how hard you try you can't make it so small that you can't see at least one or two entries. Her window shows no entries or more correctly just the tip of the first entry. I believe resizing in her case just increases the size of the blue details pane and does nothing to increase the viewing area that should be listing the addons. I'll verify this and post back, as well as give her a link to this thread.

Thanks to all for taking a look. :)

Hello Brink,

So, I went to that other thread and it was clearly stated that the manual dragging was already tried so the OP just neglected to inform us of same. So, waddaya think about trying the Turn off IE 10, reboot, and then retick it back on again? I know that it resets some parameters because I have done it before and I was prompted just like the first time I opened it.

Did she already see if a simple restart may sort it incase it was a glitch?

@my2cents:
It wouldn't hurt to try to turn off and on IE like that to see if it may help.

Hi,

Sorry that I was unclear on the having tried resizing. I just tested turning IE off and back on, and it retained the elongated shape of the Manage Addon window that I had set before turning it off. So it seems that turning it on/off won't effect how that window is displayed.

I am going to find out if when she reset IE if she ticked the box to delete personal settings. If she didn't that might be an option, although I think it is something weirder that just window size because it only seems to be effecting the top pane.

Hi gvstn,

Just to be clear, I think you are trying to recreate a problem to you do not have, and since I don't believe that is a valid test IMHO, it should be best attempted by the actual person with the issue. However, kudos to you for trying to be the imtermediary here but any suggestions should most definitely be attempted by the person having the actual problem.

Also, has anyone over there suggested the possibility of a malware infection? If so, has anything been done to that end?

And finally, has anyone suggested a refresh?

More information:

So, I went back and scoured that original post and the OP was trying to manage a tracking list via the add-on manager (reasons unknown). Also, she had trouble removing some entries but others were able to be removed. It appears that right after she could not remove some entries is when the add-on window "shrunk up like a clam." Sounds like a great way to communicate "do not touch again." Now, given the unknown source of the tracking list import and combined with that unique method of denying access, I would venture to say the OP has been infected. Just my2cents.
