Can no longer access Outlook.com using IE10 browser?

For some reason or other I can no longer access my email account Outlook.com (known formerly as Hotmail.com) when using the Internet Explorer10 browser, it will not go to the sign in window, although I can access the account by using the "InPrivate Browsing" option in IE10.

Not a huge problem as I can and do use another browser most of the time. I am curious as to why this has occurred more than anything?

Has anyone else noticed this?

Thanks in advance,

Chris.

I don't use Outlook but if you want to post a link, I'll see if I can get to it with my IE10 (if that might help).

I appreciate you offering to do that, thank you:thumb:

The strange thing is, after downloading and installing this months updates for Windows 8 today, I could access the Outlook sign-in window in IE10, but I was only able to do that once, then it was back to as it had been. For a few seconds I thought the updates had fixed it.

Hi Chris,

It worked just fine for me. Go in and clear out your browser cache, close IE10, open it and try again:

One more thing Chris,

If my previous suggestion does not work, you might want to clear the browser cache (history) as previously advised and use the basic link below:

https://login.live.com/

Recreate your login again and mark "keep me logged in" before doing so. I am suggesting this because I assume you had a previous bookmark link that took you directly to you mailbox. If so, you wouldn't want to manually clear your browsing cache (history) thereafter.

Many thanks for your replies.

Unfortunately carrying out all of your suggestions didn't fix this issue.

However, I have now realised when in "InPrivate" browsing, although the sign-in page/window appears, signing in does not take me to my email account. What happens is as below, and that happens if I tick the box to keep me signed in (as you suggested) or not.

Hi Chris,

I just remembered that I have an old hotmail account so I did some additional testing. The objective was to logina and stay logged in on subsequent visits. IE10 browsing history was changed to NOT delete on exit. So here are my results:

Firefox 24 - Auto-login works 100%
IE10 - Works 100% (w/InPrivate browsing OFF)
IE10 Fails 100% (w/InPrivate browsing ON)

To me, it all makes sense now, in that, the InPrivate browsing option is now doing it's job by protecting your privacy.

Good luck.

I appreciate you trying to help by doing that test.

However that's not really the issue, the problem is I cannot log into my Outlook.com account using IE10 browser.

Strangely enough I can access both my Gmail and BT Yahoo email accounts using IE10.

Kind regards,

Chris.

OK Chris, I have misunderstood before, so no surprise that I was a bit off again. Anyway, I'll leave you to work with someone else on this issue and best of luck in finding a solution. Good luck.

Well I was intending to post up here how I had fixed the problem of not being able to access my email account Outlook.com using IE10 browser, as I had managed to get it working for two whole days with no problems.

However after installing Window 8.1 upgrade last evening which included IE11 browser, I am now back to square one. I've tried doing the same fix as I carried out in IE10, but this time it did not fix the problem.

Nothing like replying to yourself, lol.

I have now resolved the issue that had re-occurred after upgrading to Windows 8.1, that was stopping me from using IE11 browser to access my email account, Outlook.com.

I did the usual delete cookies, temporary files and history etc which made no difference.
Next after backing up all my favourite sites I used the "Reset" button. Although hitting the Reset button did not mean I lost my saved Favourite sites surprisingly as I had expected.

In Internet Options under the Security tab>trusted sites>sites, I removed
https://login.live.com from the "Websites" box as picture below shows.

Close the browser and reopen it and it now works. Also I can now access Outlook.com in the tile (metro) IE11 browser, which I could not do before the W8.1 upgrade.

As I pointed out before, it was not so much of a problem, more of why is it not working now when it was.

Also I'm not 100% sure why I should need to do this, as I thought Outlook.com was part of Microsoft, if in which case I have that right, surely it should have worked if added to the "Trusted sites" zone.

Regards,

Chris.
