IE10 "Internet Explorer Has Stopped Working"

I keep getting this warning window.

I most often get it when I close IE10 myself, and then this warning window pops up. Yes I know it has stopped working. I stopped it. At other times it pops up when I close a tab in IE10. I just close the window with the "X" in the top right, and IE10 keeps right on working. Only very occasionally does it actually close IE10.

Is this just a bug in Windows 8 and IE10, or could something be causing it? I'm not running any toolbars other than those supplied in IE10, and to my knowledge have not configured anything special.

Any thoughts on the cause appreciated...

What it's saying is that the tab has crashed. It is not because you are closing it, that's just coincidental. It's crashing when you close it.

This problem is typically because of some extension that's installed. You might want to disable extensions in Extension manager. Even though you didn't install any, that doesn't mean some other app did not install some.

Thanks for the quick reply. Here is what I found. Only Bing was in the search providers. Any thoughts on what might be causing the issue?

There were more when I clicked on the Run Without Permission tab. See new list. I've found some info that Google Updater may be the problem?

I totally agree with Mystere; however, now you need to start disabling things to try and find the culprit. Here's mine; however, please understand I run a fairly tight ship and don't allow many extension to get tied to my browser:

Also, since I don't use any accelerators, I have deleted them all so no need to show you that view. I think if you stick with Mystere, he'll get you through this issue. Good luck.

Disabled the Google Updater, and it went OK for a half day or so, and then the message came up when I closed the browser. Have now disabled the Google Earth add on, to see what happens...

Still having the issue and getting the warning when I close IE10, even with the Google Updater and Google Earth add-ons disabled.

Any more thoughts on what or which specific add-ons may be causing the issue?

Have you tried a complete reset of IE10 ? (Internet Options/Advanced/Reset/Check Delete Personal Settings)

Is the problem listed in the Event Viewer ?

In Applications and Services, Internet Explorer, there are no logged events. Should I be looking elsewhere? No I have not tried the complete reset of IE10. I recall talking myself out of doing that, but I would have to think about it longer to jog my memory as to why I decided that. I do recall seeing it suggested somewhere as a potential solution.

I have also looked at the Microsoft office bug report site, and it is reported repeatedly, but MS keeps dismissing it as an unreproduceable event.

Open control panel/system and security/administrative tools/view event logs. It may be listed as an Error or Warning and would provide a code to do more research.

I have found the Microsoft site to be not very helpful. They seemed to have "canned" responses and do not address each problem individually.

I would consider doing the reset, though you may have to redo your extensions like Google Earth.

Also, what is your AV ? You may consider doing a scan with a free online scanner like Kaspersky.com or Malwarebytes.org.
