I recently did a fresh install of Windows 8 on a separate partition. It works perfectly - except that none of the internet browsers are working properly and most of the metro apps that involve grabbing data from the internet stay stuck at the loading screen.
Internet Explorer 10 can't go online (when I type in a url, it searches in my recent history - and I obviously have none because it never goes online), Mozilla Firefox 7.0.1 loads and goes online but stops responding once I try to download something, and Chrome 14 simply stops loading and gets stuck on some urls with the spinning loading circle and a blank page.
I can't download or access anything from Windows Update (it stays stuck at the "Downloading from Windows Update"). I can't even log into my Windows Live account, as it stays stuck at the loading page. BitTorrent still works.
I suspect the problem to be somewhere in my internet configuration or access files, but how do I find it and solve it? What other information can I provide?
I'm on an Acer Aspire Timelinex 5830TG-6659, running Windows 8 on a separate partition from my main operating system, Windows 7 Professional x64.
Edit:
To install Windows 8, I downloaded the Windows 8 iso from the Microsoft site, used Windows USB/DVD Download tool to put it onto an 8 GB flash drive as a bootable, then restarted and installed it on a separate partition that I'd created using Disk Manager in Windows 7.
I'm connected to the Internet through my university's secured wifi network.
