Move Outlook 2010 (XP) emails to Windows Live (Win8)

Hi,

I have an old desktop PC (circa 2002) running XP

On that PC, I have been using Office Professional Plus 2010 & Outlook to access my email account (POP)

I just purchased a Win8 laptop. Since the Win8 Mail app will not work with POP email accounts, my email/internet access provider (Comcast) recommended using Windows Live Mail (I'm using 2012 version). This works fine for new emails. However, I have not been able to find a way to "move" the historical emails from my Outlook 2010 (PC) to WinMailLive (laptop.)

Exporting the emails from Outlook 2010 creates a .PST file which is not recognized by WinMailLive.

I tried using MailStore, but it will only archive email from the Inbox for POP accounts.

Anyone know of a way to move emails from Outlook 2010 to WNL 2012, that is easier than forwarding all the historical emails to myself from the Outlook PC & then reorganize them in WML on the laptop?

but i believe you have to have Outlook on the new machine to do this

Is the xp still operatable? if yes
You can install Windows Live Mail onto the xp machine
then move everything there
once it is moved you can use my attachement to backup windows live mail
then on a flash drive you can take the folders it creates and put them into windows live mail on the windows 8 computer
this works with windows live mail 2012 also
Once you have it all backed up you can do the same thing only pick Import instead of backup and point to the backup of WLM

Now that you installed WLM you can follow the link i sent you above in my first post, importing mail from outlook to WLM
then open my pdf and export the mail out of WLM and put it onto a flash drive or external hd
then following my instructions again in the pdf use the Import to put it into WLM on the new machine
