Hello Jeff,

Do you mean that you can only use the desktop version of IE10 and not the Metro version?

Are you having any issues opening any other Store apps or Modern UI screens (ex: PC settings)?

This happens when you set another web browser default (not IE). To solve this, go to Default Programs(in Control Panel)--> "Set your default programs --> "Internet Explorer" --> click on "set this program as default". Done.
Reply if it works or not.

    That's basically it.
Yes Shawn, just as you say.

And no BlackwOlf, i did not set anther browser as default.

Because if i would do so, IE would say that IE is not your default browser, right?

I mean, if i hit IE via the desktop and IE is opened, it should to the same in the APPS or METRO section

Jeff,

Glad to hear that you got it sorted. :)

In Windows 8/8.1 there's actually two versions of IE10. The desktop IE10 (same as in previous Windows), and the Metro modern IE10. The Metro IE10 will only be available if the desktop IE10 is set as the default program for your brower instead of say Firefox. If the desktop IE10 is not set as your default program, then you would have a desktop IE10 tile on your Start screen instead of the Metro IE10 tile.

hi guys,

marked this thread as unsolved again, because it worked only once (the changes i made as explained above).

So cannot open IE via Metro or Apps. Then i get redirected to the desktop and the screen stays blank (no IE, just the desktop one can see).

But when i open the Frostwire website which sits in the Apps section, i get IE with the startscreen of Frostwire.

In the IE properties : warn me if IE is not the default browser is on.

So having only one browser, but not working.

Any ideas?

thanks

Jeff

hi S,

when i entered the Default Programs i could not use "Set this program as default".....clicked on it, but nothing happened.

"3. Open IE10 desktop, click/tap on the Set default browser button, and click/tap on Internet Explorer in the pop-up Open with dialog. (see screenshots below)"

Do not find this either, but i think i disabled this option, do not find it back. Did this because everytime i opened IE a question popped up asking to choose my browser.......

Finally opened Internet Optons, Advanced and did a reset, so in the Metro and Apps section IE is working now.

Do not know what happened.....

thanks

Jeff
