where is current Flash player in Win8?

I give up. When I try to play any kind of video, even an ecard, I see a message that I need to get the latest Flash player version. When I click on the provided Flash icon, I am taken to a page showing me how to figure out why my Flash player is not working. I then find that my Win 8 operating system already has the current (as of 4 months ago, anyway) Flash player embedded somewhere in it.

Does anyone know how to make the Flash player work? Is there a special way to awaken it? Getting tired of being unable to make video content work.

    thanks for any help.

    Try here:

Adobe - Test Adobe Shockwave Player

Under the Shockwave test & install you will find the Flash test & install.
Click on it. This page will appear:

Open Control Panel (small icons), Flash Player (32-bit), Advanced tab, check now - currently version 11.7.700.224. Change the update settings if required.

If you use other browsers than IE, such as Chrome, they will install their own versions of Flash (in Chrome called Pepper, subversion 11.7.700.225), which can lead to conflicts - only the Windows 8 plug in is necessary.

Where is it? In 64-bit systems you can find them here:

    \Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash, and \Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash

where is windows 8 flash player

Thanks for the reply. I tried your recommendation but I don't get the triangle or the arrows. Just a blank box. Maybe I don't have the Flash player installed?

Desktop IE or Metro IE? I think the Metro IE has flash embedded in it but its restricted and only works on certain sites.

There used to be a separate Player app for Flash, it was called Shockwave Player, a stand alone app, not integrated into the Browser. They still make that?

But as far as Flash goes, you have to make sure you have the versions for each browser you have, I use IE and Chrome, and both of those use two separate versions of Flash. Same for Java as well.

Yes - That's why I stopped using it, I use flash on my Band website, and it can't be viewed in the IE Tile

If using IE-10 go to add-ons and see if it is enabled. Then go back to tools and be sure ActiveX Filtering is NOT checked.

You don't get red arrows.I drew them to point to the areas where you should click.
    Try again.
    First install Shockwave.
    Then Flash.

After Shockwave installs go to the test flash page.
    Then to the Download page.

Here do what is in the picture:

    Now you will have Flash.
