Change Windows 8 default Email

I wasn't aware that I had used an email to get the Windows 8 started but I guess I did. I closed that account and am not able to access it. However, if I want to get into the store, etc. It tells me to log in with that email address. It will not let me change the address in the login screen. How to do I change in on the computer? Where is that setting?

It has to be a Microsoft account. It merges in with your Skydrive account. Deleting the account is a very bad idea, because windows 8 almost exclusively runs from that account. So if that account no longer exists, and your computer is set up to connect to it, well that becomes a huge problem, because there is constant interplay between your Windows 8 and your Microsoft/Skydrive account when you are online.

You can switch to a Local Account, and from there you can set up a new Microsoft account. Or, you can leave it a Local account and this will be for the whole computer, and you can use another Microsoft account for your Store Account. Deleting a Microsoft account for any reason, is just not good, especially now, because they will all now be "Outlook.com" accounts. Mine is still linked to my original email address because I set it up almost 20 years ago.

To change to a local user, go to PC SETTINGS and choose Local Account

Recently lost my Windows 8 on my main PC, had to go back to Windows 7.
You can switch to a Local Account, and from there you can set up a new Microsoft account.

That seems to be the best way to resolve the problem.

Good advice !
