From your screen shot it looks like you are using the Win 8 metro mail, live mail, or something.

    I use Gmail on Desktop.
    Regular Gmail account.

Here is a picture of my Gmail inbox :

    I dislike the metro mail.
Desktop gmail suits me much better.

Thanks for all that medab1. I do know now how to insert a screenshot on the post, that's how I put my full email Gmail page on the post. I have both Gmail & Virginmedia on my Win8 Mail. Can I have Gmail on my desktop as well as on my Mail email site? When I went on the Gmail website I don't remember them giving me an option to download onto my desktop.

Just open your Browser & go to your Gmail account.
That's what I meant by Desktop. (as opposed to Metro app mail)

I have a link to my Inbox in my Bookmarks Bar in Opera. ( My browser )

Hi medab1, it's me again. Now I understand what you're getting at. You wanted me to download the Google site on the desktop & then open my Gmail acct. I did that, & following your instructions clicked on 'Compose', selected the paper clip which opened up the dialog box, 'Choose file to Upload', I then went to 'My Pictures' site, (in the dialog box), selected a photo, which put the title into the 'File name:' box, changed the 'All files' box to 'Pictures',(.gif, .jpg, etc.), clicked on 'Open', and holy of holies the picture went into my email to be sent. I sent it to myself & it came out perfect. I also tried one by 'maximizing' with the diagonal line at the top right. I put the Google site on the desktop as a 'Shortcut'. Thanks again medab, it took a while but we got there eventually!

I'm very glad you got it sorted out.

Very true, my big problem is that at my age, (80), I can't remember all the things I've learnt from forums such as this one. I try to write everything down, just as I did with this post but it's difficult! Take care.

You are doing VERY well for being 80.
    Very well.

I'm only 58 but have short term memory loss.
I can remember things that happened 40 years ago better than something that happened 5 hours ago.
I'm on medication for a disability & really have to concentrate to remember whether I took it or not.

I wish you well in you computer learning.

I've only been using Windows 8 for a short time. Most things are running well, but this is frustrating. I use Outlook for email. When I open an attachment, the only way I can close it is to go back to the start menu and then back to Outlook. Surely there is an easier way to get back to Outlook.
