I have a new Sony Vaio which i bought three weeks ago, and obviously it's loaded with Windows Eight. I'm living in Italy this year for work, and when I bought it I was just at home for the Easter Weekend. I had everything set up on it in-store (Livedrive, Norton, Microsoft Office, Skype, iTunes etc.), so when I took it home I assumed everything would be ready to use. I only used it a very little for Word before I left England again, so it wasn't until I was in Italy that I realised the internet doesn't work properly.Pages aren't loading fully, neither in Chrome nor in Internet explorer. This sometimes means that I have to press the refresh button immediately after clicking on a link or typing a search phrase into Google, but it also means that images rarely load properly and videos only load about seven seconds before stopping completely. Another problem is that I can't download almost anything, even updates that my computer suggests to me itself, for Livedrive, iTunes, etc. They appear as downloading in the downloads bar, and they get right up to 0% left to download but never flick over to 'Downlad Complete'. I can down load e-mail attachments but nothing else.I thought I could live with this but it is now driving me insane. Hope someone can help!

Are you using any kind of Proxy? that might cause some of that.

Recently lost my Windows 8 on my main PC, had to go back to Windows 7.
I have this identical problem, again with a new Sony Vaio laptop. With the first search I get a blank screen which won't load. If I stop the search and reload it normally loads the page, but often doesn't load some pictures. Youtube and virtually any video will only play for 5-6 seconds before stopping. Just getting the 'play' arrow to load in is pretty difficult, involving multiple reloads sometimes. I have a problem with downloads too - for example I've read on a number of forums that particular programmes might sort these problems out. But 50% of the time when I download it sticks in the last few seconds. And when I do finally manage to get the whole .exe to load, when I run it, I get an NSIS message saying the certificates have a problem. This happens even with trustworthy distributors like Java and Apple. I've cleared my caches, and disabled all my extensions (including Norton extensions) but nothing has come up. I've run a full system virus scan, which hasn't turned anything up. I've run Windows Update - again, nothing's changed. I'm at a bit of a loss, so any advice would be welcome

Open the elevated command prompt and type:

  1. ipconfig /flushdns
  2. ipconfig /renew
  3. Power cycle your router to clear the DNS Cache

In addition, also clear the browser cache

I think I've finally resolved this - I think there was a conflict between the pre-installed McAfee software (which had not uninstalled completely) and the Norton
