How to access "MSN for Windows 8" homepage on Dell Inspiro

I have a Dell Inspiron 660s bought last December. It has Windows 8 64 bit and has Internet Explorer 10.

My issue is the following: The computer works fine, but when I go to my home page MSN from either the desktop or metro screen, it opens the non Windows 8 version of Internet Explorer, not the MSN for Windows 8 version. It has been like this since we purchased in December. It's frustrating because we cannot take advantage of the new IE look.

I have talked with Dell often. They tell me it is a software issue and cannot help--unless I spend $200+ to buy a software warranty. I have researched widely but have not found an answer.

I have reset the homepage and several other processes, but none work. All updates are current.

It is possible to insert a URL address different from the Dell default to reach "MSN for Windows 8"? I'm hoping not to have to purge the entire system and begin again.

Thanks for any insights you might share.

Can you go to the msn web site when you type it in and does that open correctly?
If so you can go into toos/ options and where you see the dell website it is going to erase that, and click on Use current website. And click Apply

Use the desktop ie 10 to do this

Thanks for the suggestion Robin.

I did as you recommended. Even (in desktop) by typing in MSN.COM, the Dell overrides it and re-enters the Dell13 MSN homepage which, on this Inspiron, is still the still the traditional msn page, not the "MSN for Windows 8".

In tools, I deleted the Dell 13 site as the homepage, typed in msn.com and, again, Dell overrode the msn and put in their dell url.

I went into default programs and again set IE as the default browser, but nothing has changed.

Thanks for any further advice you might have.

try davehc advice by installing Ccleaner and only use the "cleaner" part of the program
stay away from the registry part

Also try this go to tools/Internet Options
delete all the Browsing History
Once done:
close the browser
Now open it again
Highlight and delete the dell site that is there
Click the "Use Current" tab then click ok

Close the browser and see if it opens to the msn page now

You really don't need CC for this, as mentioned just clear your cookies and you should be good to go. My Inspiron was doing this also in FF browser.
