Solved Using Windows 8 Mail

Got a new laptop. Win 8 Touch !! Managed to set up e-mail same as desktop (but had to change it from POP to IMAP). It works great. Just have one or two things to ask. I get mail from my bank & CC co's etc., with links to my accounts, but they are not in blue or underlined so they don't work. Don't have this problem when using the Mail program on my desktop. Other frustration is not knowing how to get my correspondents' e-mail addresses into PEOPLE other than manually typing every single one!!! Very annoying. Old program used to automatically put them in Address Book if I replied to them. Anyone help? Thanks in advance.

to add an email person to the contacts list in the People app, right-click and choose Add Contact:



the People app will open. then edit it further. or just click/tap on Save:

Thanks for trying. My screen is different to what you are showing. When I right click the e-mail sender I only get the options of "Sync", "Pin to Start", "Move", and "Mark as unread". Are you using Win 8 Mail or Yahoo?

this is windows 8 mail. if you're not seeing the options, either you're in the wrong location or you have an older version of the app and it needs to be updated.

in order to see the option, you reply to the email. then in the To: box, you right-click on the name and it should show up as an option. if you have a touch screen, you would just tap the name (I'm away from my touchscreen right now so I'd have to verify the touch choice later).

Thanks for persevering with me. It should be an up to date version. My laptop is only few weeks old. I will try what you told me and let you know how it goes.

the new version of the mail app came out less than a week ago. that's the only reason I can think why you might not see the same things.

Then you're correct. I don't have the up-to-date version unless it updated itself without me knowing. Next question, how do I get the new version. Not very savvy. Took me a while to get it going in the first place. Help is greatly appreciated.

Just pop over to the app "Store." You'll find a tile for it on your Start screen. When you open the Store app, in the upper right-hand corner it will tell you how many app updates are available. If you click on that information, it will take you to the update screen where you can install all the available updates.
