Mail app format

Is there a way to modify the Mail app screen... to do things like change the font, adjust the width of the columns, set up new folders, forward messages, etc? I can't find any way to see options, preferences or anything else except the basic stuff that was there when I first opened it. But I'm really new to Windows 8... just began using it a few days ago.
Thanks,
Tom

to change things like the font, with a mouse, you right-click. with a touchscreen or a newer trackpad/touchpad, you swipe from the top edge downward or the bottom edge upward. this is when you're inside an email.

to manage folders, same instructions. but outside the email.

to forward messages or to have other reply options, tap or click on the reply button:

to see your options or preferences for the mail app, bring up the charms bar and go to settings. remember, the charms bar is contextual. meaning, if your mail app is open and you go to settings, you'll see your mail app settings. if your gamp app is open and you go to settings, you'll see your game settings. similarly, the search is also contextual. if you have the wikipedia app open, the search in the charms bar is used to search wikipedia. if you have the xbox music app open, search will search for music files.

Thanks dirtyvu, but I don't get the same choices you get.

Whether I right click or swipe, inside or outside the message, I get the same bottom icons: SYNC and PIN TO START on the left, MOVE and MARK UNREAD on the right. No sign of all the little ones you get on the right bottom of your screen.

When I go to settings in the charms, there is no OPTIONS option, though the others are the same.

This is a new computer, and is my first encounter with Windows 8. I just turned it on and let it do its thing setting up. Is there maybe something I should do to reveal the full list of options?

Thanks,
Tom

UPDATE: When I right click in an empty (new) message screen, I do get the font and other options in the bottom right. But I'd still like to be able to increase the font size on incoming messages, to make it easier on my aging eyes. Is this possible?
Also I still don't see the OPTIONS option in charms/settings. And I still don't see a create folders option. I'll keep looking!
Tom

if you're not seeing the same options as shown in the screenshots, it means you have an old version of the mail app. update to the latest version.

on your start screen, your Store tile should list a number which indicates the number of updates you need to do for your Windows Store apps. when you open the Store app, it'll launch the Windows Store and in the top right corner, you should see updates. click or tap on that and then choose to update.

since you're new to windows 8, here's Microsoft's intro:

Thanks for the link. I'll read a bit and see if I can sort it all out.

also, for the small text in the emails, I'm not sure if there is a way with a mouse or keyboard. maybe someone else can help with that.

with a touchscreen, you just spread your two fingers apart which zooms you in. then pinch to zoom out.

Thanks again. What I was looking for was some way to set default text sizes for various parts of the Mail screen, and to adjust the width of the columns, much as one can do in Outlook. I have a feeling that such customization is not possible in the Mail app... but would welcome being told differently.
