Solved Accidental deletion of a Metro app

While I have been running W8 on my my laptop for a few months, I am at a point of wanting an OE Metro app back that I discarded during setup.

It was simple (and now I know wrong) to uninstall the icon from the desktop, rather then to unpin. Shoot me it was the excitement of the new OS;)

Well bottom line, it was IE. Now of course I can simple create one, but a created one doesn't offer the same variable's as the Metro app.

I would think this is a standard app for the Store  but no... that would be to easy. So here I am, how can I get this back.... Can I get iy back:think:

Thanks TW

Hello,

I only have a local account so I can't access the store directly; however, I think if you go to your Start Page, click on the Store App, and then right-click on the actual Store Page (see image), then click on the "Your Apps", it should get you to the right place to identify your existing apps and show you the original apps that can be restored as well. No guarantees but it is worth a try; yes?

No luck Captain besides, I'm a surgeon, not Billy Gates;)

Unfortunately it is not there either. Is it IE, Internet Explorer, InternetExplorer?...

Hi,
Welcome to the forum, go to Store, right click then select "Your Apps", you may find IE in "Apps not installed in this PC" list, HTH.

Aye-aye Doctor! FYI, IE10 is considered to be an option in Windows 8; therefore, it can be uninstalled and (hopefully) reinstalled via >Control Panel >Uninstall >Turn features on and off >Tick/Untick IE10. Unfortunately, I have never tried this method and I am hesitant to recommend it to you; however, if you are an adventurous sort, you could give it a whirl (at your own risk). To put it in terms that you are more familiar with, I would say this might be equivalent to a kidney transplant where the patient might require dialysis after the operation if the kidney starts to fail. Good luck.

Funny you should mention a kidney transplant... Been there done that, for real:thumb:

Well I didn't uninstall IE10. Only uninstalled the app/ Metro app.

It is nowhere to be found. Neither in All apps, Apps not installed on this pc, nor Apps on XYZ

So she's a puzzlement.

What I have found is if you set another browser to be default, the Metro app just disappears completely. Try disabling always check to see if browser is default on start up.
